try travel guard? I think you have to buy it within 24 hours of booking though...
You may only be able to purchase it through your travel agent though depending on the package...
Previously I was a travel agent and at that time there was no other option...it had to be purchased at time of booking and there was no exceptions. I believe the same is true now.
You can buy trip insurance after your trip, but before departure. You should check with Canadian insurance places like banks for example: RBC or TD/Canada Trust. If you actually read through all of the documents on Travel Guard website (which is pretty expensive by the way), it mentions about purchasing before you depart, but not necessarily at time of purchase.
Good luck. Glad to see that you are making this wise decision since our DD2 was extremely ill in WDW 2 months ago, and being a teacher I didn't have to pay one cent of medical coverage, but our not even 2 day hospital stay and 1 morning clinic visit cost $4000.00 USD. Travel insurance is a necessity!!
If you booked directly through Disney you have up until you make your final payment to get the cancellation insurance but it also includes some other emergency coverage.
