First we are thinking of purchasing the Graco princess pattern umbrella type stroller for Disney instead of taking our big Graco Quatro stroller. Do you think we should do this or take the big stroller? The baby will be turning 1 the day after we arrive.

We are going for the first two weeks of January, what clothes should I pack? What about jackets?

Will it be too cold for the water park?

Can you rent a microwave for the room? We are staying at All Star Movies?

If I think of more, which I am sure I will, I will post later,

I purchased the Graco princess pattern for my upcoming trip for my 4yo. She loves the stroller. It is very lightweight, it reclines, easy to open and close, and DD loves it. The only thing it doesn't have is the tray on the front. Don't know if you would miss having that to put snacks on. My 16mo like the stroller as well. If you need a lightweight one, this would be a good one.

Weather in January can be hard to anticipate. Be sure to bring lots of warm layers. We went at Christmas a few years ago and wore longjohns the whole week.

We went for the last two weeks of January 2003, and it was warm enough for us to be in the water parks most days. I think we had a couple of days when it was below 60, a couple when it was over 80, and the rest in the 70's. So we were able to swim in the resort and in the waterparks most days, and the water was always warm.

That said, first thing in the morning and in the evenings, the boys (then aged 18 months and 3) needed long trousers or jeans , and light jackets.

We stayed in ASMo that trip, and there was a microwave in the foodcourt that you could use to heat up babyfood. Don't know if you could hire your own though.

As for strollers, the boys were a bit older, and we didn't take our own stroller but hired the double strollers in the parks. They loved them, and they were great for letting DS2 have his nap in the afternoon.

You will have a great time

Before the DS and DD got to Jr. High, we always went in early January. It can get cool, so be sure and take long sleeves, lined jackets, and sweatshirts.
We bypassed the water parks--too much hassle and shivering to really enjoy them and we wanted to spend as much time at the Parks as possible. Remember, the hours for the parks will be decreased, so you would have plenty of time to swim at your resort after park closing if you do need your water fix.
We've stayed at the ASmo since it was built and have never been disappointed; you can call their CM to ask about the microwave in the room--haven't had to do that so I'm not sure.
The food court is wonderful for kids of all ages--they can pick and choose just what they want from the many "theatres". Each station is very accomodating to adding this...or leaving that off...
Have a wonderful time. The crowds will be minimal and that is the best benefit of all!

does the umbrella stroller recline? I am taking a bigger stroller for my 13 month old so that she can nap while we are out and about - I have taken a basic umbrella one for my older dd when she was 3+ and it worked well, but for a little one I wanted somethign a bit more comfy.

I have never heard of Disney renting microwaves, but you can rent them from www.abbf.com although I did wonder what Disney's policy was about rented electricals in the room - it strikes me as a fire hazard, but I don't know if it's allowed or not.

The stroller sounds great.

I know for a fact you can get microwaves at All Stars because I worked there. :)

As far as Jan weather goes it is unpredictable. I've seen it 80's and I've seen it cold.

You mean you can rent a microwave, or you can use the one in the food court?

The princess stroller does recline. It's not a full recline, but I would say even to make a child comfortable. The only thing is, it does not fold as small as an umbrella. It folds down but not down and in like a typical umbrella, kwim?
