Need to share my happy dance!!!

Every year I wanted to take DD to Disney and every year something came up - dh laid off, divorce, I was laid off, etc. Last year I decided I was just going to book it, save and surprise DD so if it didn't work out, she wouldn't know.

Well 10 minutes ago I paid off the balance! :yay: and most of it was from selling things we didn't need including the proceeds from a yard sale this weekend that is paying for our meals (well most of them... :))

So excited!!!
That's awesome! And it just proves that you can get to Disney if you're determined to do it. Enjoy your trip!

When are you going? DD and I will be there alone for the first 4 days at the Poly. Always interested in meeting up or finding a pool buddy! DD is 9 almost 10.
We will be there August 15-20. Staying at the Art of Animation though.

Well, now she gets the pleasure of anticipating and planning- it's a good thing!
I agree. Often surprises are more fun for the person giving the surprise than the one receiving it. All of the pre-trip excitement and discussion is part of the fun.
When my kids were little we'd cut strips of construction paper and make long chains with the countdown on each link. It was fun for all of us and gave them a little math lesson in 1st grade. :teacher: (Ds18 will be entering college in the fall so this was a looong time ago.)
However you do it, it's all good! Have a great time!! pixiedust:

That's fantastic! I can just imagine the excitement when you made the last payment :cloud9:. I'm not a big fan of surprising kids really close to the vacation date in case there's any fears or apprehensions they have, afraid of flying for example. Plus this way you both can be excited together!

That's where we were planning on staying before we booked the Deal. I am meeting another Dis mom and her daughter - PM me once you hit 10 posts if you have any interest :) It's my first trip since I was a kid so I'm trying to "collect" as many tour guides as I can :earsgirl:

I didn't have any fear of this but yes when she found out it was fun because she started planning it with me and I don't feel I'm wasting FP's on rides she just won't do (she is NOT a thrill ride kind of girl).

CONGRATS!:thumbsup2 Sounds like a FABULOUS trip to look forward to and plan! I believe that I read in one of the posts above that you are staying at the Poly?
If so, it would be GREAT if you posted to let us know your experiences!
ENJOY!:cheer2:

Sure, I have to figure out how many more posts I need to do. As far as a tour guide, its been about 6 years since my last trip. D11 was 5 at the time. Have you done your Fastpass and ADRs yet?

3 more :) Yes we do. We have very few ADR's planned so we can be lose and fancy free. We aren't on the dining plan.

We only have 2 ADR's. BOG for lunch and 1900 Park Fare for dinner. I heard Cinderella's evil stepmother and stepsisters are hilarious. D11 is a bit of a tomboy so she is not too interested in the princess stuff and most of the rest is a little young for her. I was thinking of the Garden Grill because she likes Chip and Dale but the menu didn't have much she would eat. We'll just see Chip and Dale somewhere else.

We have a 1900 Park Fare dinner reservation too :) On our arrival day Monday 8/17. We have BOG breakfast and then Ohana breakfast on the day we leave. I didn't want to be tied to too many reservations and I want this to be fun and relaxing. I'm an overplanner by nature and want dd to be able to take the lead some days. I bought park tickets for all the days we are there but if she decides she wants to do a resort day, we will do that. I'm excited!!
