I rarely use paper checks, and need to order some new ones. I was sort of suffering from sticker shock at how much the bank charges for a book of checks. Where do you order yours? I need a safe site to order checks.

walmart.com

Last time I ordered, they were $5 or $6 per box.

I use Checks Unlimited. I just re-ordered a few weeks ago and got 4 boxes of duplicate checks for around $24.00. Check out the site retailmenot, I found a code on there that reduced the price a bunch! :cool1:

Some banks are really working the angles in our area, so check to see if you upgrade your account if you then qualify for free checks.

Also Costco has a discount program for check ordering.

Ask your bank if you qualify for free checks? At our bank you can get one box free per year, I got that box about 4 years ago lol. You can only pick from blue, yellow or green no cute ones, but hey for free who cares!

There is usually an ad in the coupon books in the sunday paper, I have used them all, and never had an issue at all.

I bought them last year from a "check" company - one that was advertised in the sunday coupon section. Someone at the factory stole my info. (account # and routing #) and printed their own. Drained my checking account.

My banks advise - ONLY BY CHECKS FROM YOUR BANK.

It may cost a little more but in the end it could save you a ton.

Thank you for the warning! The bank charges SO much for their checks. And they sent me to another nonbank website. I am over-ly paranoid about checking account security.

As a banker, I would recommend using the checks from your bank. If you don't use checks often and want to keep the expense down, ask about ordering a smaller pack. I know both Deluxe and Harland Clark offer mini packs of checks. Usually the quantity is around 50 or 2 pads. You may want to check if you can change account types to be included in on a free checks program. Many banks offer that type of perk for account holders who have certain amounts on deposit or have direct deposit or even a "bank at work" program.

My current supply (really cute Disney checks) came from 'Checks In The Mail'. If you sign up for their email, you'll received a %off coupon within a few days.

I've also ordered from WalMart Financial and Checks Unlimited and have never had a problem.

Both my mom and I use www.styleschecks.com

we've gotten GREAT prices~like $12 for 2 boxes, including shipping!!! (google for what discount codes are available now)

I've never had a problem with them.

As I said before jsut use caustion - the company I used is listed on one of the above recommondations and one of there emplyees stole all my info and gained access to my account.

I would not risk it - order from the bank.

We used Walmart.com last time - and we have transitioned from out Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head checks from Harland to Disney Pixar Checks! HAHA :)
Walmart.com does have great prices and very fast service!

Great, my b ank refers me to another website "Harland" to buy checks and there is a "we are not responsible for accoutn security" disclosure. So I guess I just need to pick one.

Nikimomof3- Which company specifically did you have your info stolen from?

I sent you a PM - hope it helps

Checks from the bank also come from a factory.

It's awful that that happened to you, but it can happen even if you order from your bank.

I am sure that the bank checks are made in a factory however, I think you have a better chance in dealing with the bank if you used there checks. The have more access to the factory that printed them.

Please don't not think I am an expert or that you even have to follow my advise. I simply was taken for over $7000 from someone that stole all my bank info. while printing my checks. I am just ginving advise based on my experience in the hopes it will prevent someone else form going through it - it was a ton of work to get the $$$ back.

does anyone ever just ask the bank for those free "counter" checks where you have to write in the information? I was wondering if those were okay to pay bills, etc.

Some places will take them, some won't.
