We are going next April. Our checkout date would fall on Saturday, April 17. I am going to book at my 11-month window at OKW, however, May 17 will fall on this Saturday. Can I call on Friday (tomorrow) & make the whole ressie or should I chance it & wait until Monday?

I have never made ressies at peak time. Any help would be appreciated.

You will not be able to book the whole thing tomorrow if it is before the 11 month window for any of the days of your stay. I think you can wait unless you are looking at a GV. You shouldn't have a problem with anything other than a GV (which often get booked day-to-day.)

If you're nervous (because that is a holiday week,) call today or tomorrow to book the first part and tell the MS rep that you will be calling back again to make the rest of the reservation and let him know of your planned checkout date. That way it's just a quick call to add the extra day. I just booked our HH Easter stay and split it between two phone calls before and after last weekend.

You didn't say what type villa you will be requesting but I would be very surprised, even for peak times, if you didn't get what you want at OKW at the 11 month window. I would thinkyou would be fine to wait until Monday. And I guess you would have to wait until Monday to call. You could use E-mail, which I have never done.

Wait until Monday!! There is no reason in the world to make two phone calls to MS for a two bedroom at the 11 month widow or in you case 10 months and 28 days. The only reason to make more than one call for a reservation during the popular times is for a grand-villa at OKW. This happens all the time when you go to make a reservation, the check out date will fall on the weekend.

Actually it doesn't make any difference whether the checkout date is on the weekend or not. It only matters whether the 11/7 month reservation window date falls on the weekend or not. If that date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday, then you would need to wait until the following Monday (or non-holiday date) to make the reservation.

For example, suppose you were taking a vacation, checking OUT on Thursday, Dec 18, 2003. At 11-months you would have made your reservation on Mon, Jan 20th since Jan 18, 2003 was a Saturday. For 7-months you would make your reservation on Mon, May 19 since May 18, 2003 is a Sunday.

If interested, my DVC Planner computer program automatically calculates the booking window based on end of month, weekends, and holiday factors.

make sure you request a lock out if you want one - other wise it is a dedicated at OKW - BWV all the 2-bedroom are lock-out, VWL has both and BCV also have both types.

Two bedrooms are the last to fill up. That is why the proportion of lock offs is so much higher in the new resorts.

Caskbill- you took my statement out of context. I said the same thing you said. I did of course not mean that the check out date will fall on the weekend all the time, but I should have said to be more accurate that it will happen a lot of times. In this case it is at the 10 month 28 day window not the 11 month window. At any rate one should never have to call more than once for an reservation at OKW with the exception of an grand-villa, I assume everyone understands I am talking about the 11 month window here to be exact. OK Caskbill

Pa@okw95, guess I was mislead by your statement then. Whether the checkout date itself is a weekend or not is irrelevant to the reservation window. Apparently you didn't mean the checkout date itself falls on the weekend, but rather the 11/7 month window for that date falls on a weekend.

I thought you were saying many people checkout on weekends (This is very common because a lot of people book Sun-Thu night stays.) This is what I thought you were referring to by your statement "This happens all the time".

Because of the offsets between any vacation date and the same date 11 or 7 months earlier, the chances of the reservation window being on a weekend when member services is closed is only 2 days out of 7, or 28%, or not exactly 'all the time'.

Nevertheless it's mostly semantics. If the 11/7 month mark for your vacation falls on a weekend, the member simply has to wait until the following Monday.

I agree that there's no sense in making part of the reservation on Friday and the rest on Monday for a simple OKW reservation that does not include a hard to get accommodation.
