need to confirm reservation (moved from Welcome Board)

*closed* HI, I just rented points from a DVC member, she made the reservation in my name and sent me the confirmation letter. I just wanted to confirm the reservation myself, but the resort or DVC will not do that since I am not a member. Does anyone know how I can confirm this reservation before payment is made, or is my confirmation letter enough?

You will not be able to confirm your reservation with the resort until 3 days or so before your vacation. Renting points requires a great deal of trust. We rented twice before buying into DVC and had a wonderful experience each time. Good luck, just keep your trust.

If she has sent you the confirmation letter thats all you can do. You can ask her to 3way call with you to MS.
but thats th risk you take when you rent from someone.She has done her part.When you get about a week out or a little less thn you can call the resort and ask about it and they can tell you but thats it.

If a member or "pretend member" was going to cheat you, they could walk you over to MS show you the reservation on the CM's screen and once you walk away cancel it. You either trust the member or you don't. You get a nice vacation for very little money and give up any control to the reservation. If that isn't enough for you, back out of the reservation and make it through CRO for more money.

Your options to "confirm" the reservation are to either accept the copy of the letter from DVC confirming the reservation in your name or to call the resort a few days prior to arrival to "see" if the resrvation appears in your name or not.

Hopefully, you have a contract from the member and have checked nad verified references in addion to speaking with them on the phone in addition to getting a printed confirmation in your name.

There is no way to independently confirm a reservation until a few days prior to arrival, so hopefully you have followed the suggested protocol on the Rent/Trade Board.

If you call the resort to confirm, keep in mind that you must speak to the actual resort front desk.

Your initial call will probably go to a call center, and they will not have access to the info you need. That info will only be on the resort front desk computers, so you'll have to be transferred to the real front desk CM's.
