Need to change flights booked with SW points

Walk me through this please- I booked flights from Omaha to San Diego, and from Santa Ana to Omaha. But, now I need to reverse it- I want to start in Anaheim and end in San Diego. I booked with points.

Can I cancel the flights online? Do I need to call?

Will the points go immediately back into my account so I can book the other flights tonight?

I had gotten EBCI on 2 tickets. Will I lose what I paid for that? Will I lose the $5 fee on each of the tickets?

Anything else I need to know?

No, you don't call. You "change". I'll talk you through it. Let me pull up the SWA screen.

Top of the southwestairlines.com screen in little writing is "travel tools" Click it. Scroll down, click on "change air reservation". Fill in the confirmation number and the first name on the itinerary. It should take you through the rest. You'll keep EB but it may not show up as "EB" on your new confirmation. I always call to confirm. No additional fees. I think you even keep the same confirmation number.

So it's a change and not a cancellation even if the destination is different than before?

Yes. You can change the departure location AND destination. You can change the travel dates too. Keep in mind, you may be spending up or down and will have to pay more or end up with credits.

Yay! It worked. I had to do the process 6 times because they are all different reservation numbers. Actually on the flight out, it refunded me $2.50 on each ticket. No idea why! Ticket prices were the same. The flights coming back were 600 points cheaper, and it shows that I still have EBCI when you look at the details.

Now when I get the rest of my points next week, I need to buy the last two return tickets and hope they are still the same good price.

Thank you for the walkthrough, I'm sure I would have cancelled them if left to me to figure it out. What would I do without the DIS?

Gotta love booking with points and changing without any fees too!
