Need to buy AUL?

Thinking about taking one trip there every three years over Christmas and New Year in a 2 BR Ocean View. Do I pretty much have to own at AUL to make this happen at 11 months? If I have enough points is there any risk I won’t be able to get it?

Thanks for any advice. I’d rather buy my next contract at WDW but I’ll buy at AUL if it allows me to do this trip every three years for sure.

Based on availability data - I would say it may be tricky to get at 7 months. There is less than full availability starting around the 9 month mark. You may be able to patch together a stay but getting a full week will be tough. My guess is Christmas itself is very very popular.

That’s a VERY popular time of year and you will need the 11m window for that many consecutive days. Walking shouldn’t be an issue though.

That’s roughly 756 points over 9 nights.

I’d shoot for a resale 100 pointer and a 160 pointer with an Oct or Dec UY for around $100pp or less to get you to 780 points every 3 years.

There can be subsidized Dec UYs out there, but they will all be stripped to the hilt of points and that doesn’t work for your goal.

I'm a really new DVC member, but I know from going to Hawaii multiple times that Christmas-to-New Year's is one of the most popular times of year to travel to Hawaii. It's safe to assume that getting the villa you want for a week between Christmas & New Year's at Aulani will be challenging unless you have an Aulani contract or are willing to pay cash for a room.

Normally you don't need AUL to go there but for the time of year you want, you definitely do, even if it is for an ocean view. If it's a non-negotiable trip, don't gamble at 7 months on it.
