Well my dishwasher is just about dead. We are looking at buying a new within the next few weeks. I was told that Whirlpool is the best quality...So any advice on brands, prices, stores where you bought it, instillation issues...etc...would be appreciated! :goodvibes

I liked my Whirlpool Dishwasher so much that I bought the same kind when we moved to a different state!

Any Whirlpool is going to be good. The Whirlpool Gold (which is what I had, but the 1994 model) now has (maybe) too many bells and whistles-the equilvalent of features of what I liked so much is now the $349 model of Whirlpool, the ones that are not labeled Gold. I would beware the ones with the sensors that "keep washing until the dishes are clean".

Eopinions has some good reviews of appliances.

Have fun!

I bought a Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner IV last fall -got a great deal, after negotiating with Lowe's, local appliance stores, etc. then went to Sears - they beat the other prices - it's worth it to negotiate there!

Since this is the budget board, I would check the stores (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) for open box deals or special order returns - if you are there at the right time you could get a great deal. You could also try to make a "friend" at one of those stores - ask them to let you know if anything like that comes along.

We just needed to replace our dishwasher in November. We went with a Kenmore. The one we got was #4 on consumer reports list. It was a little more than I thought we'd spend (it was like $650 installed) but I really like it a lot. Hopefully it will last a long time!

I don't know alot about installing dishwashers, but this is the one thing I do know.

Never, ever let your DH plumb with a used hose from a vehicle. If you do, you will have a huge mess and then you will replace a large chunk of floor and get new flooring for your kitchen.

I hate to admit it, but that sounds like it belongs on the redneck thread on the community board. :scared:

We got a Bosch. This is our 2nd Bosch and I am not sure I would go with anything else. We got it at Sears during a deal. I think the final cost was $729 with tax. It was also the stainless model. DH installed it himself. He is a handyman type though.

We had a Maytag when we moved in to this current house and I HATED it!

We researched before buying and have been very happy with this model.

We went through Mypoints and purchased it at Sears. We picked it up and installed it ourselves.

We have a Bosch. We've had bad luck with Whirlpool (it was a lemon) and Kenmore (died after 4.5 years).

We need a new dishwasher too. I am going to get one that does not have vinyl coated metal racks. I'll spend the extra for nylon racks.

as far as the price goes, if you go to the LowesMoving website, you can sign up for a 10% off Lowes coupon. they e-mail a printable coupon to you within a few days or so.

Thanks, I went and checked that out!

Hi there! We bought a whirlpool and absolutely love it. Got it at ajmadison.com, and the prices there beat out anything locally! free ship and no tax, too (although we bought a fridge at the same time -- that made us eligible for free ship). anyway, completely loved ajmadison.

We've had our Bosch for about 10 years now and love it. Haven't had a single problem with it. I bought it from a local appliance dealer and it was the floor model. They gave us a great price bc they were updating their displays. There wasn't a thing wrong with it. Most shoppers open it up, peek inside, slide the racks and close it up! It was never plugged in so I grabbed it! Where ever you decide to go, ask when they sell their floor models.

hi:)

i know i'm biased( i now work for lowees) but check w ith your lowes appliance specialist. they will maybe be able to get you a good deal on a returned/refurbished/repaired machine. i sold a 1500 dollar range today, had one tiny dent on the side(will be hidden by cabinets) for 600 bucks. so its very possible to get a very good deal on slightly used appliances. they may not be on the open sales floor.. so ask the guys at the desk. htey will gladly help you,
