We did the AC tent camping two years ago at FW. It worked fine, I was froze out of the tent. DHh loved it. He did a good job cooling but we are always looking for new suggestains on how to set up the air. Please post your methods and pictures if you have any.

Thanks Tigger

Can you enlighten me, I have never heard of AC tent camping, where do you get an AC tent?

We stayed at FW one summer Tent camping. After the first night I know we needed an AC unit. I went to the local Mart store and bought one for $88. I just placed the AC unit up to the window and just let it blow in. I did use a milk crate to set the AC on and the window cover as an AC duct. Sleep great for the next two week we stay at FW. :thumbsup2

AC tent camping is when you buy an AC unit for your tent. Sounds kinda silly to me but DH insist. I might really enjoy it myself since we will be camping in Aug this year.

Thanks for the tip about using milk crates. We could use crates for other supplies then convert them to AC holder.

I would love to see pictures of this too. We tent camped at FW once, and it was so hot! I never heard of using an AC with a tent until this board. I would love to see a picture of it too.

You can set it on some boards in front of the door. Just zip the door down around it as far as you can. Use towels or blankets to finish sealing it up. You can buy units that sit inside and have a small hose that has to be run outside to exhaust the hot air. But those will cost more. I think Home Depot has them.

I saw an advertisement for a portable ac unit today. $$299. I think that it was at Home Depot. It said that is had the ducts and stuff to go with it. Sounds cool.

While I get the general idea, I'd still like to see pictures...and other camper's reaction. :rotfl2:

I did tell my co-workers I wanted a tent with central heat and air when I had to take my son on his first cub-scout camping trip. And the pop up tent that you un-zip the bag and toss in the air and it "pops up" into a tent before it hits the ground. :rotfl:

BTW, did I mention that we just bought a 30' Airstream to go camping in? :cool1:

I went camping with my mother and my 3.5 yr old daughter over the 4 july weekend. We were in an rv but our neighbors had an ac tent. They had one of those army surplus tents and had it put up with 2X4s instead of the traditional poles. On one 1/2 end of one end of the tent they had it closed up with plywood with a window unit cut into it. We thought that was pretty cool.

The portable air conditioner shown at Home depot is similar to one I bought and used in our pop up a few weeks ago. It also is 9000 BTU's. All you have to do is vent the hose, like a dryer hose, outside. I zipped up my side window of the pop up around it and it just blew through the screen part and it worked well. It was hot in June of course and it kept us cool. We did have the emergency blankets over the tops of the 2 ends though. It dropped the temperature from 90s to 70's and lower, and that was in a 22 foot pop up. I found mine NEW on ebay and paid $200 including shipping, although I think something may have been a little fishy with it knowing how much shipping was for it. Walmart.com has the portable units too and they can be picked up after ordering at your local store.

Is anyone else having problems when they click on the links? I ask because when I click on it it comes right up but I don't know if it is just because I put it there?
I'm wondering if I did something wrong?

I don't see it either...it pops up with an error message...I will post what that msg is in a sec...The message says "Unhandled error 0x00000000 in _davGetPhotoAlbumPath, QueryAlbum"
