Need tips of removing glass shard from my foot.

I had a small shard; DID go to Dr in Clinic. Did pay 478.00. Did not remove the shard. Wife removed it in three minutes with tweezers and squeezing. It was good for the economy.

If it is not painful, you can leave it in and it will grow out naturally. I did that with my last splinter in my hand. And it did work.

Now it was not a glass shard and it was not in my foot.:lmao:

If you want to get it out you need a super magnifying lens.

Use Ichthammol drawing salve - you can get it at the drugstore.

It will take s few applications over a couple of days, but it will work!

Youarehere -- I love your baking soda recommendation -- sounds like a miracle cure! That's the one I would try.:thumbsup2

How to Remove a Splinter Without Tweezers, Squeezing, or Pain
Children (and many adults) often regard the removal of a splinter with terror. Here is an easy, painless way to remove a splinter. This method will even work to remove a deeply embedded glass shard.

[edit] StepsWash your hands.
Irrigate the affected area with a liquid antiseptic such as Betadine, or just wash the affected area.
Make a paste using water and about 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.
Put this paste on a bandage and apply the bandage to the affected area.
After 24 hours, remove the bandage and rinse the area. The splinter will be sticking out of the skin and you or the child will be able to remove it easily.

I had a glass splinter stuck in the sole of my foot about 2 months ago. I tried this after I failed getting it out with some tweezers. I only waited two hours though and then tried again with the tweezers. It came right out.:thumbsup2

I had a shard of glass in my heel. I thought the glass had just cut me as my foot was a little sore but it wasn't excruciating or anything and I couldn't see anything stuck there. Three days later I was at work and rocked back on my heels while standing and felt a sharp stab. Took off the shoe and sock and just barely squeezed it and the piece of glass popped out! I think your body tries to reject the foreign object little by little. Good luck.

P.S. Original Poster, you know duct tape as gaffer tape.

Well I still have a blue spec on my elbow from a piece of metal that never worked it's way out. I was a little kid, and the ball rolled under the van. So I stuck my arm out to get it, and it scraped the step runner. There was tiny piece that lodged itself in my elbow and I was never able to remove it with tweezers. Eventually the skin just grew over it. Doesnt bother me at all though. Just there as a reminder.

The longer you mess with it, the further you're going to get it stuck down in there. Your best bet is to wait a while. I'd go to sleep with the bandaid suggestion and see if it helps in the morning.

I clean the area very well with soap and water and clean a sewing needle off well with alcohol. Use the tip of the needle to get beneath just the very tip of the splinter and gently lift it up. Sometimes you have to loosen the layer of skin above by gently pushing it aside with the needle. It really doesn't hurt. You can often just continue to lift with the needle and the splinter will lift out. You may need to grab it with tweezers. Clean well again and put antibiotic ointment and bandaid over the area for a couple days.

If this doesn't work...go to your doctor.

The problem with these things as always is infection. Often they will work themselves out but sometimes they form a pocket of infection. So keep an eye on the area either way for any increased pain, swelling, fever or redness.
