Since 2001 our family (me,Dh,ds20,ds19 and ds16 ) visit Disney world .The last three years have stayed on property at Fort Wilderness cabins .We love the cabins and don't want to stay anywhere else- My problem. My hubby and I somehow agreed to my son and his girlfriend since she graduates hs in 2012 she can come to Disney with us .the cabin is great for us since all boys but now I need somewhere for 6 people .I want her to be with us so not sure where to look .please any help from you all will be great .This is her very first trip so only Disney property .She will be 18 so I don't want to put her in her own hotel room by herself .

Yes, a cabin at FW or a suite at AllStar Music or the new AoA would work too!

Have fun! And how awfully nice of you to take a girlfriend to Disney!

I get why you have your heart set on FW-I just love it there.
You can fit 6 people in a cabin-there's the double bed in the bedroom, the bunk bed and the murphy pull out double in the living room. Heck you could probably put a boy in a sleeping bag in the hallway if you wanted to.
Something to think about is, and you don't have to answer this, but ahem...sleeping arrangments?
It depends on what you are comfortable with-who will sleep where?
If it were me, of course it would depend on the ages we're talking, but I'd probably do 2 BR villa somewhere-OKW, or VWL. Same price range, more room. More separation of all the spaces. She's a girl, she might want some more privacy.
Another option is getting a good deal on adjoining rooms at a regular hotel. That way she won't be secluded, but you can all get privacy if you want it.

If you look into villas, OKW and SSR tend to be less expensive. The 2 bdrm at OKW are huge. You will have 2 queen beds in the second bdrm, plus a sleeper sofa and sleeper chair in the living room. You could also look at THV. They are the same price as 2 bdrm and you get 3 bdrm. They are lovely. We stayed there this past spring break and loved them. They have a secluded and woodsy feel - think luxury camping!

Since the 2 bdrm villas can be pretty pricy, you may want to look at renting points from a DVC owner. If you love the cabins, you'd prob also love the Tree House villas. I'd request one along the river, they look so pretty passing by on the POR DTD boat :goodvibes

It sounds like you have some good solutions. If you were to opt for two rooms at WL - you'd be very close to Ft.W. The villas at WL might also be another option. One considerable advantage of a two room villa would be the additional bathroom.

A second bath means you can shower in half the time. It's also gives everyone a little more privacy when taking care of their personal needs.

I've gone on vacation many times with a large family group, we all know each other well - but it's always trying when we have to share a bathroom.

Whenever a 'new' person joins our family for a vacation- I'm not sure how to elaborate- it just makes a world of difference if they have a private place to get ready, and a (private) place to stow toiletries. Start with the basic minimum of hair products and feminine products. We all have certain brands we prefer. Just having the space to put stuff is challenge enough. You've got another dimension entirely if the GF has to share a bath with young boys.

I've not stayed at one of hte cabins pers say - but i've stayed at nearly every other WDW resort- and counter space is an issue in pretty much every resort. It's especially a problem in the showers itself. There's barely enough space for one bottle of shampoo, let alone two!

Whenever wh have the choice between two locations where one has an extra bath or even half bath - I opt for the extra bathroom.

I would rent a reservation from a DVC member.

Two bedroom at OKW offers a large space, king size bed in master, two queens in second bedroom, and sleeper sofa and chair in the living room.

Treehouse Villas at SSR offer three bedrooms.

AKV Kidani or BLT offers two bedrooms, sleeper sofa and chair but also offers three bathrooms. The bathrooms would be a huge plus in my opinion.

WHY won't the cabins work? They hold 6 ppl and you have 6 ppl in your party. You and DH can have the main bed, the other 2 kids can have the bunk beds, and if you are comfortable with it, DS and his GF can have the Murphy double bed. I doubt there would be any hanky panky in a hotel room where everybody can see everybody else. Or you could put DS and his GF in the bunk beds and put the other 2 kids in the Murphy bed.

Another 6 person option would be All Star Music Family Suite. It has a queen bed in the bedroom and 3 sleepers in the living room. 2 individual sleepers and one sleeper that fits 2 ppl. So it would hold all 6 of you, it has 2 bathrooms and has a little kitchenette with fridge, sink, microwave, dishes, coffee pot and cabinet/counter space. We have stayed here and the food court is amazingly good. It runs between $200-$250 a night which is less than most of the other 6 person options.

Another option would be to get 2 connecting value rooms and the 2 girls could stay in one room and the 4 guys could stay in the other room. You could just request a fridge for your room, and would still have 2 bathrooms.

Not sure why THV aren't showing up. It may be too soon to book them with cash, but you may want to call and ask. OKW stands for Old Key West. You can look for points to rent on the DVC section or try David's vacation rentals. He acts as a broker for points. He has an add on the DVC section of DIS. You will pay less if you rent points and can add the dining plan if you want to, but if Disney offers free dining during that same time frame you won't qualify.

I just checked disney's website for the THV in October and I got them to come up. I priced out a 2bdrm at SSR, and the it allowed me to change that to THV - they are the same price. Maybe try again?:confused3

Thank you everyone. I was able to get the tree house villas . I did play around with some dates but thats ok . I feel much better knowing we will all fit in one place and still have the space. oh- my son and girlfriend will not be sharing a bed . No way No how. Thank you all again and Happy Holidays.

So glad you were able to get THV. With your love of the FW cabins, I think you will be right at home there.:goodvibes
