Need Telescope advice for DD8

Hi all! I am hoping that someone can help me out. My DD8 is asking for a telescope for Christmas. I would like to get her a decent one, that is easy to operate and locate what she wishes to look at. She has always been fascinated when we night-sky watch for various planets, and during meteor showers, and would like to do more. Anyone have a suggestion or experience?

Our DD6 (almost 7) wants one too! We are looking at a couple from Toys R Us and Walmart. We are looking at the "computerized" ones. But would love to hear others opinions as well
