Hello ladies,

I am needing a bit of support today. My fiance's father passed away yesterday. He is flying home tomorrow (he just got back from a trip to see his dad about a week ago). His dad was ill for a long time, and Steven copes well, generally, but there was unresolved pain between them, and Steven is very, very sad. I didn't get much sleep last night. It is hard to keep my energy up for the last minute wedding detail planning. We are not getting married at Disney, but we are going to WDW for our honeymoon.

Also, I want to include his father's memory in the ceremony somehow, but his passing is so recent. It looks like none of his family will be coming out for our wedding. Steven's dad was very well known in his community, and there are many memorial events planned there.

:sad1:

Oh no! I am so very sorry to hear that. My grandma passed away recently and although it is not a parent it deeply devastated us too. We are going to have a memorial candle and flowers placed where she would have sat at the reception. It is so unfortunate that this happened so soon before your wedding, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry about your loss:sad2: I cant imagine what you and your fiance are going through. I hope that you can still make the best of your wedding day. Remember the good things you have and cherish them. My thoughts and prayers are with you...

Wow - when I read this I did a double take. My, DF's father passed away yesterday as well after a battle with cancer. Its strange that another DISer was going through the same thing as I was yesterday - wild.

This is all so sad and emotionally draining to be going through with a wedding looming. My prayers are with you and your DF. Stay strong.

It seems like there are so many people out there very very sick or dying here lately. It really makes me sick to even think about it. When it rains, it pours. My grandmother is very ill right now as well. I pray for you and your DF's family. Its always sad and never easy! Im so so sorry-- please let me know if theres anything I can do. Sending hugs your way:hug:

I am so sorry for all of your losses! You are in our prayers and thoughts. It is never easy to deal with the loss of a loved one. It hurts so much to see those we love in pain. Please know that hugs are being sent to you from here in Canada! Should you need anything please let me know and I will do it.

I am so sorry you and your df are going through this... I totally understand how you feel my df's dad passed in october after a battle with brain cancer. it was all so quick. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your soon to be family...

our hearts go out to you and your families.....devastating is putting it mildly - we know. my DF's father and only son both passed away last year and we are still struggling with putting a happy face on our upcoming wedding...

to honor his memory, there are endless options - some of which have been posted here already. we are having a remembrance table with photo's, a candle and a special bouquet we had made for them. instead of traditional wedding cake, we are serving both of their favorite desserts in their memory and playing some of their favorite songs...

you could also have a special reading, a chair reserved just for him...as I said, many options. I'm sure if the two of you sit down and discuss it, you'll come up with the perfect solution . for each of us suffering a loss, the solutions are different but the outcome is the same.. we just want to honor them - cherish their memories...

sending much love to you and your fiance in this saddest of times...

Thank you all so much. It makes me feel better to read all your good wishes. There are so many wonderful ladies on these boards! At the same time, I'm so sorry to hear how many of us are going through similar things! My DF is from Montreal; he is on a plane there right now, just about to land in Chicago (I am obsessively watching the flight's progress on Travelocity!). The memorial services are Sat. and Sun.

Thank you for the suggestions about remembering him at the wedding, itself, too. I am going to begin to put something together tonight.

Oh, my. One thing I've learned is that the last few weeks before the wedding go by just like that. I just can't believe it has come up SO fast. It is as if time speeded up. In four days, we will be at WDW for our honeymoon! :yay:

Thanks to everyone all over this board. I've received so many tips and so much support. Steven is doing a bit better, now, and I'm sure WDW will help tremendously.

Think of us at 11:00 am PST on Sunday. :)
