With October hours showing I started looking at options for the night we anticipate going to the Halloween Party. We are not planning on a park visit this day.
We are not really buffet people. This is my friends first trip and charactar dining doesnt really appeal to her.
We are doong DXDP the first part of our split stay...the moving to BWV where we will have a little more flexability. For some reason this one is stumping me

So Far we have planned for our trip:

California Grill
Kona
Narcosses
Yak and Yeti
Jiko
Kousina
Beaches and Cream
GF Tea
Raglan Rd
Flying Fish

We ate at Kona last year, and it was our best meal. Plus, you'll be just a monorail hop away from the MK for MNSSHP.

We don't plan on visiting a park during the party day either, but since you can get into MK at 3pm anyways with your party ticket, this year, I've made a reservation at Tony's in the MK at 6pm.

This past October, we could use our party ticket to get into MK at 4pm, not 3pm. But if you have a magic your way ticket package, you can get in earlier anyway using that (unless you used it for a different park earlier that same day).

In 2009, there was a castle lighting ceremony at 6:30pm, so having dinner a little early is a plus.

I would pick a place where you can have dinner earlier and close by. Signature restaurants (California Grill, Narcoosees) don't open until 5:30pm. Now, if you get a 5:30pm ADR, you will be the first to get seated and could finish by 6:30pm if you don't linger... But a full course meal will take about 75 minutes.

Another option is Ohana for dinner at the Polynesian Resort if you can get a 5:00pm ADR when they first open. If you can't get 5pm, you might end up being seated later than your ADR, and not make it to the party by 7pm. When we went to the party, we had a 5pm ADR at Ohana, finished at 6pm, went back to our room (at the Polynesian) to change clothes and took the Ferry Boat to MK. Also, on most nights (Tues-Sun. usually), there is a tiki torch lighting ceremony outside the Grand Ceremonial House (same place where Ohana is) at 6pm (usually). There is a drummer and fire juggler from the Spirit of Aloha show that does this 15 minute ceremony.

How about the restaurants in Magic Kingdom? I like Crystal Palace and Tony's Town Square and both have early seatings for dinner as early as 4:30pm I think. Even though Crystal Palace is a buffet... their dinner food has been consistently very good. Another close-by option is 1900 Park Fare dinner at the Grand Floridian...I have not dined there yet (next trip) but I think dinner starts being served at 4:30pm.

We have a tradition now. We use our hard ticket (the MNSSHP ticket) to get into the park at 4pm. I get a 4:15pm reservation at the Plaza. I know people will say it is not the best use of a TS but we love the sandwich and great big ice cream dessert to start out the party. It is really a "party" meal and definetely is very good. We have never had a bad meal there. Enjoy your trip.

We did the Wave last year before MNSSHP and it worked out great. Our dinner reservation was 5:30 and I believe tha party "officially" starts at 7pm. Just jump on the monorail from the Contemporary and your next stop is the party!

Thanks this helps I had forgotten about the Plaza

I was going to suggest the Plaza as well. We did this on our trip last year when attending MNSSHP and we really enjoyed it. DH is insisting on going back to the Plaza again next month b/c he loved the banana split so much. Sure it is mainly just sandwiches, etc - but it was very humid that night and was nice to not be weighted down with such a heavy big meal. :confused3

Good luck and have fun!! :yay:

Very true...I enjoyed the Wave on my last trip and it was a good meal

On party nights we always due a CS meal for a late dinner during the party. Cosmic Rays usually sometimes Peco Bills. We use our TS for breakfast or lunch @ our resort because we do do not a park day either.

Grand Fla. Cafe is a good choice too though.
Plaza sounds yummy.

I would suggest to either eat inside MK or do a late lunch. DH and I were doing MVMCP and had 5pm reservations at Grand Floridian Cafe. They must have know we were in a hurry because it was well after 7pm before we got our check. I'm sure this usually doesn't happen (just my luck:lmao:), but just keep this in mind.

:thumbsup2 The last two trips we have done WCC at WL at 5:00 for dinner before MNSSHP and MVMCP. Took the boat to MK. Great trip to see the resort. There before all the hullaballoo with the noise (we do not have children and after eating at several Charater meals DH prefers not to). Great food and relaxing trip back to the front gate. Has worked out great for us. That way you can get WL and a boat ride into the trip for your friend.

Last year we did DTD on MNSSHP day. We shopped, we had lat(er) lunch at Raglan Road then returned to our room to dress for the party then just headed to the MK around 5:00. Worked out perfectly for us! I see you already have RR planned, might work for that day if you like to shop as much as we do!

Another vote for the Plaza!! :thumbsup2 We knew going into this ADR that we didn't want to be stuffed and we didn't want it to take too long. If you're planning on maximizing your MNSSHP time, I'd enter at 4pm and plan on eating earlier as others have stated. We ate at 5:00pm and were out of there in plenty of time. They were already giving out the party bracelets so we grabbed those and were on our way before the official start time of 7pm.

Have fun - it's a blast!! :cool1:

When we did MNSSHP in '06. We just at back at the resort, relaxed a bit, then changed in to costumes. Do you plan on wearing costumes? Changing then going to dinner? Bringing them to the park?

We did it on a Tuesday night and the park was pretty much dead. <5min waits or no lines at all. Kids bags were full of candy and the enjoyed the parade. Jasmine even came over to my lil Jasmine and gave a smile and touch on the nose. Was a great time!

You definitely want to be in the park at 7:00 when the party starts. You don't want to waste valuable party time eating either, IMHO. Five hours seems like a lot of time but it goes by quick.

Like others, we were able to get into MNSSHP last year at 4:00 PM and do not want to lost time by traveling. Do keep in mind that many of the restaurants start closing early, and some will close at 6 or 7, when the park closes. We have not tried the Plaza and are definitely not a fan of Tony's. The castle is now serving dinner. We have considered doing the castle on the night of the party. It looks like you have a menu choice, but they do have the princesses.
