I am planning a nice evening out for my parent's 40th Wedding Anniversary. I will be taking them to see Paulo Szot in South Pacific. South Pacific is playing at the Lincoln Center and I am trying to find a nice steakhouse or something like it for dinner. The only ones I could come up with in that area is...

Uncle Jack's steakhouse -love the look of upstairs, but we'll be eating pre-theater so I'm sure we'll be downstairs which isn't as nice.

Porter House -I love the look, but it's more modern & that's not my parent's thing as much, but it does have a lovely view of Central Park, if we can get a table by the window.

Oak Room -we've actually never been. it used to get pretty bad reviews, but apparently it's improved.

Those are the only ones I've found. Anyone ever been to any of these? Have any other suggestions?

My parent's favorites are Ruth Chris & Bar American, but I want to try something new. Plus I'd rather be close to the theater.

Thanks! :)

Wish I had a suggestion for you. Well I do...just not a restaurant!;)

I wanted to suggest the forum boards on chowhound.com. You should get a ton or responses from all sorts of "foodies".

Hope this helps!

Try looking on www.menupages.com. DH had used that when we planned our anniversary weekend last September. It gives customer reviews, how many stars they thought it deserved, prices and most of the times web sites to the restuarants.

We ended up going to Del Frisco's, but it is pricey and mostly al-la-carte. But the food was soooo good and worth it for just the two of us for a special ocassion.

Del Frisco's is at 49th and 6th in the McGraw Hill Building. Food smells wonderful. People from work eat burgers from there all the time. I'm too cheap to go. :lmao: The food is supposed to be fabulous though.

My brother swears by this place...I've never been but maybe look around for reviews.....knowing him though it's probably expensive

They closed. Too bad too.

How about Smith and Wollensky. BLT Steak.

We did exactly that for our anniversary - dinner and then South Pacific. We went to Bar Boulud - Daniel Boulud's more casual restaurant. His restaurants are usually one-in-a-lifetime events that are very expensive. However, Bar Boulud has a pre-theater menu which is about $42. Very chic place and the food was outrageously good!! And, best of all, it is across the street from Lincoln Center. Park the car once and walk from there! Here's a link:

Let us know if you end up going there! P.S. If you are going soon, you'll have to make reservations asap.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sorry for the delay... I never recieved an e-mail that I got any responses & I'm subscribed?? :confused3

I'm gonna go look into these now. :)

Swanmom- How was the show? I've never seen the movie & want to wait until after. I have an idea what it's about, though. Did you guys get to see PAULO SZOT?? My mom wants to see him bad. I am so paranoid about going when he's there, that I actually e-mailed the theater to ask his days off. It's tuesdays & good thing I asked, 'cause I was gonna pick tues since it is a 7pm show.

DBF seems to subsist only on steak so we go out alot. I would also recommend Del Frisco's (right near Rock center) - it was his favorite until we went to Quality Meats. It is owned by the same people who own Smith and Wollensky. It is a little more expensive than Del Frisco's but the food is outstanding. It should be maybe around 58th street between 5th and 6th. Try the corn brulee as a side!

We have tried all of the 'other' places..Peter Luger's, The Palm, Smith and Wollensky, Craft Steak (now closed), BLT steak, Dylan's..we always come back to del frisco's and quality meats.
