Need suggestions from off-site hotel experts!

We are arriving late one afternoon at MCO and plan to spend our first night off-site before moving to the Wilderness Lodge for the rest of our trip. We will have a car, and we would like to find a clean, cheap hotel to spend that first afternoon and night. What we really want is something that is within walking distance to some shopping, eating, and entertainment options for that first afternoon and evening. Can you all think of any hotel that would fit that description?

okay I am a complete Disney newbie I still have to get there! Only another 50 days to go but we are staying at the Staybridge Suites on I Drive for the duration of our stay. I have read and scaned numerous sites and the suites we are staying in are reportedly located opposite a shopping mall called The Mercado and I hear that we have a few restaurants within walking distance. Hope this helps

Cheap and clean and close to eating etc. dont always go hand in hand unfortunately!

IF you want to be close to downtown Disney there are the hotels on that street but they arent "cheap"

I don't care about being close to Downtown Disney. Something on I Drive or around the Old Towne area would be fine with us. Any other suggestions?

Would you consider Priceline? Most of the 3* in the WDW area will fit your requirements. I learned to bid on www.biddingfortravel.com The board is more demanding than DIS, make sure you read the FAQs, but I have had great results in Orlando for first night stays, and also in Phildelphia and San Diego.

The Comfort Suites Maingate East is pretty much beside Old Towne and can be had for around $50 a night.
