We will be staying in a 2 BR at OKW starting 10/26, but will be driving in some time on 10/25 (which is a Saturday). For obvious reasons, we will not be staying on points the first night.

Can anyone recommend a "suite" style hotel (bigger rooms than normal hotel rooms) for us to spend one night? It will need to accomodate 6 people. We may arrive fairly early in the day and spend some time at the hotel, so a decent pool and common areas would be a plus. We would like to stay under $150.00 if possible. Of course we'd like it to be as close to Disney as possible, but don't mind if it's a few miles out.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Chad, we have rented a 2 bedroom vacation villa from Marriott's Sabal Palms and Cypress Harbour several times for the first night. With a AAA discount, I was able to get the 2 bedroom units for as low as $129 and as high as $149 plus tax. (The $149 in June.) Last Christmas, I was able to secure two 2 bedroom units on December 27th for $139 night each. When I booked my airfare, I had to fly in a day early but couldn't get rooms at BWV so that is why I stayed off site. I have done this three times now and think they are great for the price, especially for just the first night flying in to Orlando. I found them by doing a search on the Marriott site. The Sabal Palms is closest to WDW, right at the Marriott World Center on 536. There are actually three vacation club properties on that site. This is less than 5 minutes from the southeast Disney archway. The Cypress Harbour vacation villas are over by SeaWorld, so a bit farther to the parks. Hope this helps!

has cypress point for $64
wydham palms for $66

these are for one bedroom villas

Thanks again for the replies. I booked a 2 BR unit at the Wyndham Palms for $88 on Hotel Kingdom that sleeps 8. This will be nice because we will split the cost 3 ways and every one will have a comfortable place to sleep instead of getting 2 regular hotel rooms or trying to jam all of us into a room that's too small.

So far, I have seen and heard only positive things about this resort. I think we will be satisfied as long as it is clean and safe because we are only staying 1 night. However, it would be a nice surprise if it was a really nice place so we can enjoy our first day before moving on to Disney and a real hectic pace.

Now I have a new question. Is the Wyndham Palms and Windsor Palms the same hotel? If it is, does it matter at all?

I have the wyndham palms booked for Dec 20th prior to our arrival at DVC on Dec. 21...I'd love ot hear a report...

Sure thing.

Do a search - I did a long report on a nice stay at Wyndam Palms. Sorry do not know how to get you a link. We own DVC and really liked it for off-site - easy to get to parks, rooms clean and large. This is a very spread out resort and pools are just OK but rooms were very nice for a few nights.
