Hi everyone!
I am two months away from the big day and I need some help. My parents want to have a farewell breakfast for some of our out of town guests and we are trying to pick a place to have it. :confused3
The key is fun- maybe even a character breakfast. We were told a lot of places we can do it, but are not sure about any of them. Too many choices!
Any suggestions? I would really appreciate some advice.
Thanks! :wave2:

we went to chef mickeys for our dinner after our intimate wedding, we had a great time!!!

We are planning a farwell breakfast at the Cape May Cafe at the beach club. Its a character breakfast with Goofy but I am not sure of the other characters.
We chose the Cape May Cafe because some of our guest will not have park tickets so breakfast in a park is out of the question. Also most of my family is from Cape May, NJ so it was appropriate.

Our guest are paying thier own way on this one. I made reservations for 20 people and anyone else will just have to make thier own reservation if it ends up being over 20 people.

we did 1900 parkfare (sp?) anyway it was great...had about 35 people ...the characters were wonderful and the food was really good

We had ours at Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL. There aren't characters, but the servers make it a lot of fun! The servers called up me & DH, a newly engaged couple, and a couple celebrating their 10-year anniversary and had a dancing contest, then when they got us up there they said there was also a kissing contest! We were still kissing after everyone else had finished - we didn't even realize it until we heard tons of clapping - and we won!! It was hilarious because DH hates to be in the spotlight

Everyone really enjoyed it, including my 77 year old aunt who can be a bit, well let's just say "stuffy" - she still talks about how much fun the brunch was. My EM made the reservation for us so there was no problem getting in a large group.

I love the breakfast buffet at Boma's and if you have never been to the animal kingdom lodge it is a very beautiful resort to visit

We LOVE BOMA for dinner but we have never tried their breakfast. GREAT IDEA. We are having our breakfast at Chef Mickey's since there are so many characters and this way its kid friendly for those guests who are bringing the little ones. Everyone is paying their own way and whoever wants to come out of the 60 people are welcome to join us. We are going to include the option in the first newsletter so that everyone can let us know if they want to participate.

My favorite character breakfast - for characters and fabulous food - is CHef Mickey's also. I've never had a bad experience. The food is wonderful and you get all the main characters. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, CHip & Dale and I think that's it... Good luck. WHerever you decide to have it will be great!! :teeth:

I have been to most character breakfasts, including Cinderella's Castle, and my favorite by far is Chef Mickey's! :thumbsup2

It is all your classic Disney Characters and characters that most of your guests will recognize. Mickey is hard to come by in the parks depending on the time of year, but at this breakfast he visits all the tables personally, along with Minnie, Chip & Dale, Goofy, and Pluto. The food is amazing and it is in the Contemporary Resort's Lobby so you have the monorail passing overhead as well. We eat here every vacation on our last day. It is a great farewell! Good food, Classic Disney characters, the monorail, and near Magic Kingdom, what better way to end your Disney Wedding Celebration and Vacation? In my opinion it encompasses everything that people recognize Disney World for........ :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Can you tell I am biased? :rotfl:

I vote for 1900 Park Fare! The food is wonderful and the character interaction is too.

We are probably going to have our farewell breakfast there or Chef Mickey's.

These tips are so helpful! We will probably be having around 40 people- do any of the places have private rooms/areas?

If you don't mind me asking, where did they seat you all in the restaurant? Was it one big table?

They set us up banquet style by the front door on the right, think we lucked out because they originally said we would be at small tables all in the same area...but we ended up with two long tables back to back one table of 20 one of 15....it took up most of the front rt. side...it worked out nice because when the characters got between the tables we could get large group shots and not invade anyone else’s space...plus we did a late brunch around 11:00 so we were the last seating after the restaurant emptied out we felt like we were along with the characters....

The only thing i always add is the buffet does shut down at a certain time (don’t know exactly)….so double check when they start taking things down, as you want eat first and then socialize

This past May, we had a Grand Gathering breakfast at Ohana's! It was great! There were characters like Lilo and Stich, and Pluto and of course Mickey! They serve the breakfast in a family style and it's kinda bottomless!!! If you run out of something, they just bring some more! They were great and all the kids got to get up and do a small conga-line parade around the room with the characters! Some of our best pics from the trip came from that breakfast!

The girls are my littlest sisters (my mom adopted them, they are my baby cousins) And the boy is my soon-to-be Step-Son!!! (And that's Ariel, stuffing a mickey shaped waffel into her mouth!)

Just out of curiosity, for those of you that had a gathering but the guest had to pay thier own way, how did you tell them or get a head count to make priority seating?? Did you put it on the RSVP?? and What is a tactful way of saying "pay for our own meal"???
Thanks!!!!

I made an event insert in my invites. It listed all the things we have planned for the week with the cost, date and time we will be there. We are doing a Dinner show and made a reservation for 50pp, We will have to collect the money for that but its mostly close family memebers so it shouldn't be a problem because we have to give a final count before the wedding and pay in advance.
For the breakfast and other events like golf, we placed the phone# to call for dining reservation and golf because I can't worry about everyone else during the wedding.

Thanks! That's a good idea, plus it gives non-disney educated people the oppurtunity to see and do other things besides the parks. I know a lot of people don't know about the wonderful resorts and buffets.
Sorry, one more question....For those of you that have had events at O'hana's (one of my favorites!) did they sit you all together in smaller tables or one large table???

We are having our rehearsal dinner for 50 pp and I spoke with the manager and he said we will be seated in from of the firepit with 2 big long tables.

Wendy46001- thanks for the tips! I didn't think of the turnover between lunch/breakfast, but we are going to do a late breakfast, too!

Thanks for all the ideas! I am talking to my DD tonight! I have a feeling he will go for Chef Mickey or Park Fare- he loves the idea of the characters! The only problem would be we want to get a place we can all sit at one or two tables.

We are alos having a rehearsal dinner at O'Hanas! For anyone who has done an event there, how did it go? Was there anything you didn't like?
