Hey everyone,
I hope you can help with some good suggestions. One of my goals for our trip next year is to have a bunch of different surprises during the week for my family. Most of the surprises are geared toward the entire family - like decoraiting the room with a tree, WL Sleigh Ride, Character Meal, MVMCP, etc.... But I do plan on surprising my daughter with one of those My Little Ponies kits. Now I would like to find a special surprise for my son as well (he'll be 10, but he acts more like a 14 year old), but I just can't seem to find something. Mr. Potato Head is not an option.
If you have any suggestions or ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

They now have a pirate skull that you can stuff with pirate goodies...lots of gross things that a 10 year old boy may find cool! Does he play VMK? Maybe a special quest while you're at the MK? Does he like pin trading? My DS who just turned 12 loves pin trading. He talks to lots of the CMs and is learning the value of collecting. You could get him a new lanyard with some new pins.

I'm not sure yet about the pin trading. We probably won't be back to WDW for at least a couple of years (or longer), so I'm not sure if the pin trading is worth it for just one trip, but I'm still thinking about it.
As for the pirate skull, do you have any more info, or a site to check it out at. That sounds like it might be really interesting (If it's something gross he would probably love it).
He doesn't play VMK, but our trip isn't for another year, so that might be another possibility by then.
Thanks for these great suggestions, these are definately the kinds of things I am looking for.

Does he like trains? It's not the cheapest thing, but you could take him on the train tour they have. 10 is the youngest age that can go. Here is a bit of info about it and other tours.
My DH and I went last year. It's really fun. You get to ride the train with just the group early in the morning (7:30!!) and go back to see where they keep the trains (all 4 of them). If he does like trains he will love this.

Depending on when you are there, something fun may be going on at Wide World of Sports. Here is some information on that and some other sports related things to do at Disney.

Hope everything goes well!

Here is a picture of the actual skull. If I remember correctly, you take the bandanna off and fill the top of the skull up. The eyeballs are some of the goodies you can put in (they are squishy) but as you can see it's better to put them in the eye sockets and free up space inside! I can't remember all of the items but there were rings, jewels, coins, other squishy eyeballs, maybe bouncy eyeballs? Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

My son does like trains, but not enough to want to do the train tour (he wouldn't dislike it, but it's not his favorite thing). We do play a lot of sports together, so I will definately keep an eye out for events at the Wide World of Sports complex (we aren't going until next December).
Thanks for these suggestions.

I still like the idea of the pirates skull quite a bit. I googled it, but all they said was that it was at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney (which is actually a good thing because that's where the My little Pony kit is located as well), so I was wondering if anybody had an idea as to the price of the pirate skull, and what kind of things you can actually put into it, and about how many things can be squeezed in.
Again, thanks for these great suggestions, and if there are any more please post them.
