We will be spending a full day at MK on one of the days that we are staying off-site. I want to have a bit of a break in the afternoon so I was thinking of taking a monorail ride to one of the resorts to have lunch. This is our first trip so I also thought it would be neat to see some of the deluxe resorts. We have a dinner at Chef Mickey's on another day, so I'd like to go somewhere other than the contemporary.

Any suggestions for a good place to go that is easy to get to by monorail, is fairly relaxing, and is good for 2 adults and 4 kids(age 1 - 10)?

Thanks

You might like to try Trails End buffet at Fort Wilderness. It was very good last time we were there. Also they have a petting zoo and pony rides close by. It is a nice break from the park.

Take the resort monorail to the Polynesian and get a snack at Captain Cooks. It is a counter service restaurant, but the food is good. The best part is being at the Poly. After you get your food and drink go outside and sit in the patio area. It is very relaxing and the area is very scenic. A nice way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the MK and relax!

The Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is also wonderful! How about Whispering Canyon at WL? The boat ride is really nice, and I think faster than the monorail sometimes!

My three recommendations which we hit just about every trip are Kona at the Poly, Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge and Trails End at Fort Wilderness. All three a realtively quick to get to from MK and Trails End has a bonus boat ride to get there. It is very relaxing after the bustle of the park.

Kona gets my vote! They have wonderful food and great servers, and you watch the monorail go right by the window...heaven! The Poly is my favorite and we always have a meal at Kona.

Our two favorites are Kona Cafe and Grand Floridian Cafe. Both have great food and provide a nice relaxing lunch after a busy morning.

With either one, I would suggest taking the monorail one way and the launch the other :boat: ....two fun ways to travel!

Another vote for the Trails End at Fort Wilderness. It's a short boat ride from the MK and going to FW is like being in a totally different place...it is so relaxing and quiet. There is a playground right outside of the Trails End, and a petting zoo and pony rides a short walk from the restaurant. The best part is that it is such a good deal! Check out the menu for prices (we usually do breakfast here...never did lunch before, but I hear that lunch is very good too)
