Need stroller for 5 year old/rent or buy?

I had to laugh when I read this post.....

You see, in 11/04, while pregnant with ds4, we had rented a double stroller for ds3 (who was 1 at the time). We rented the double to have extra room for the backpack carrier....

On one occasion, ds3 was sleeping on dh in the back pack carrier, prego mom was pushing double stroller through MK with ds1 and ds2 (ages 7 & 9 respectively at the time). Neither of the two are small for their ages. So....I was pushing around a stroller with about 120 lbs of weight....while pregnant, with one hand....and it was a breeze.....got lots of strange looks.... the boys legs were a little long for it....but otherwise they were fine....

....moral of the story is.....I love Disney strollers....

Call me captain obvious....but isn't that a sure sign that he needs to start walking? If he can't go all day, stop and rest. Go take a nap.

Nothing pevves me more than kids to aold to be in a stroller. Size means nothing. My daughter is small for her size and we ditched her stroller at age 3 1/2.

Take your son for walks before you go. Push him instead of coddeling him, you may be suprised at what he is capable of.

We did the same thing with our son at 3 1/2 (ditched the strollers). And I, too, will at times get annoyed when I see older kids (7+) in strollers when they can easily walk (especially when it's a small place). The only time we use a stroller for our son is when we will be doing a lot of walking in one place for the day (ex. mall and Disney) . Other than than, when we go out, we don't use them. Our son's strollers have been put away for the day when we are ready to make #2.

Each child is different and most of them cannot keep up with adults. They tire out very easily. Especially in a place like Dis where the parks are very, very huge.

Umbrella strollers usually have a weight limit around 40 lbs - if your child weighs more than that, you'd be much better off renting one of the plastic ones at WDW, when you need it.
