Hi. I am just pooped. I am going on a weekend trip with a friend from work on Jan 21. We will arrive at AKL around 11:30 am on Friday. I am sure we will be starved. Where should we go for lunch? Should we head right into a park to eat? (I have to activate my AP today). I am also trying to decide dinner for the three nights we are there. Any suggestions for two married ladies in their 40's without the kiddies?

Thanks,
Shellie

What type of meals are you looking for: Sit down, buffet, characters, quick meals?

Dinner suggestions -

Spoodle's
Jiko
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Flying Fish
Calif. Grille

All have great food, atmosphere and service. There always kids at restaurants at WDW, but these are more adult places.

Since you have 3 nights, and I happen to have 3 restaurants that I can't fit in on our Dec. trip, I'll recommend those. ;) (Jiko, Blue Zoo, & Le Bistro) Maybe I can live vicariously through you. :p If you don't like those ideas, I have more. We only go to WDW to eat.

Great suggestions! I haven't eaten at any of those places b/c when I go with the family we look for character meals etc. I will definately put Jiko on my list. I prefer to eat dinner at sit down nice restaurants for this trip. Where is the flying fish? I don't think I've heard of that one. We were sort of kicking around the idea of going to PI one night also. Any suggestions on where to eat there?

Flying Fish is on the Boardwalk. It's a very good restaurant. We think top 5, for food. The atmosphere is a little loud and chaotic, for fine dining, but works perfectly for that location. I would recommend House of Blues on the DTD Westside, for a good, fun meal. I've also heard good things about Portobello Yacht Club, but we haven't eaten there. Enjoy :)

I recommend the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk -- food is great and you get to take a nice leisurely stroll afterwards.
Wishing you both a great time without the kids.

Flying Fish, Jiko, House of Blues...all our favorites and excellent choices.

Le Bistro...definately if you are going to be in EPCOT for dinner one night..fantastic.

We also love Artist Point over at Wilderness Lodge.

I have to second Artist Point. It's our favorite WDW restaurant. :) I was trying really hard to stay away from that recommendation, because it's the one I always give. Webray, just made it impossible for me not to recommend it one more time. :p

I think if it were me I might go right into the park since you will be there for a short time. I would go to world showcase and eat as you go around the world:)

Definitely Jiko. I would eat at Boma for breakfast too. Spoodles and LeCellier would be on my to do list as well. Have a blast. On my last adult trip, we did Boma, Jiko (photo below), CP breakfast, Sci Fi and Food and Wine Fest. It was sooooo wonderful.

Brown Derby at MGM gets my vote for favorite in-park sit-down dining. It feels so far away from the hustle of the parks - if you've ever been to the real Brown Derby, or Sardi's in New York, you will know what to expect.

The food is out of this world - the steaks are delicious (and better cuts than at other steakhouses on property, I have found), the appetizers are tasty (loved the pulled pork roll) and the dinner rolls served with real butter were to die for.

I'd really seek it out on your next trip - it's not the cheapest place to eat (though not the most expensive either), but the experience and the food are well worth it.

N.E.D.
