hello fellow dissers!

were flying in on dec 22nd now and staying one nite at a value before transfering over to bay lake for our 2 wk dvc stay. we did something similar last yr and went from movies to wl, but did it by having disney transfer the luggage for us and we took a bus to a park with our carryons, and then took one to wl to check in. i didn't mind this but found it to take forever.

someone suggested taking a cab from a value to blt, which would be relativley cheap. my concern tho is i have a 6 and 4 yr old. we don't bring their car seats on the plane with us, so they wouldn't have them to sit in in the cab. i remember reading somewhere that a child needs to be in a car seat ages 3 and under. i'm wondering how safe it would be to travel between resorts without the kids na car seat? i'm kinda worried about it, as at home our kids need to be in a booster seat until age 9 and 48 inches. any thoughts, opinions? i think it would be much faster this way, esp that close to christmas, but have to say i am worried about transporting the kids without a carseat.

Laws notwithstanding, would you let them ride in a car without a car seat at home? The chances of getting into an accident on vacation are the same as getting into one at home.

You're right that it would be faster taking a cab and maybe a bit easier, but you'll have to weigh that with the potential danger and decide what's best for your family.

You could let disney transfer your bags and head to the park for the day from your first resort. Then check in at BLT after you're done at the park.

Or, if you have 2 adults one of you could take the luggage in a cab and the other can take the kids on the bus.

That's what I would do. I would have you take the kids to MK that morning. Dad can load up the cab with the bags, and he can head right over to BLT, get the bags dropped off and meet up with you. You and the kids can be having fun in the park.
If you need to go to the resort in order to get your park passes, then still have dad take a cab over. You can take a bus to MK and then walk over to BLT as early as 7am. That way you won't have to wait for your bags to be delivered, which is the one thing that drives me nutty. It shouldn't take 10 hrs to move bags from one resort to another.

Glad you got good responses.
I just wanted to say WOW to the temp in the siggie, gee what a heat wave, would love to have that for this week and had the pool for another week. It has been 3 weeks since it was warm enough to use it for me.

thanks for the answers guys....never thought of letting hubby do the check in. i think chances are we'd be better off to do it that way- we take a laptop and meds with and i wont let those go with bell services for the transfer. my only big concern in that issue is if we get there and then the park hits capacity. were in the park and he isn't....and we have no way of knowing. were in canada and the roaming and texting fees are ridic.

i know how they drive there and it down right scares me....but that being said when dd landed in the er in may, we had to take a cab back from the er to ssr- kudos to disney for picking up that tab. but of course they didn't have a car seat and i worried the whole drive back.
