Ok,my hubby is a big snacker. Chips, dip, pretzels etc. He decided he is going to do the atkins plan with me and i know he is going to have a hard time with the snacking. So does anyone have any ideas on some things he could eat instead of his usual stuff?

Thanks!!

That is the hardest part my DH has with this diet..but everything else he LOVES...all the steak, bacon and meat he can eat.

My DH eats Pork Rinds (blak!!!) He loves them...they have barbque ones...plus later on you can have nuts but you have to count them b/c they have carbs. Sugar Free Jello with Whip Cream...thats the other snack he lives with now.

You can even try to make those cheese crackers...they sound good!!

Good luck to both of you......YOU can DO IT!!!!

This is really an appetizer recipe, but I've eaten it as a snack before.

Pickle Pinwheels

Take slices of deli roast beef, turkey or ham and lay them out flat. Soften cream cheese until easily spreadable and spread over the meat slices. Take a dill pickle and roll up inside the meat. Refrigerate until firm then cut in small round slices.

They sound a little odd, but they are SO good. I've taken these to parties before, and everybody loves them.

I like to put spreadable cheese on unpeeled cucumber slices.

I also like to cover a salad plate with pepperoni slices and melt about 1 ounce of shredded mozzarella cheese on top, yummy :)

Pepperoni chips

Cheese "crackers"

Slim Jims

Celery or cucumber with cream cheese, cheese, crab dip...

Sugar-free beef jerky

Deep fried jicama sliced thin are just like kettle chips

Hard boiled or deviled eggs

Pork rinds as nachos

Jalepeno poppers

Deli meat (check labels) spread with cream cheese & rolled up

Dill pickles

Olives

Chicken breasts, hamburgers, small steaks, etc.

If he gets going well, he probably won't feel the need to snack as much, anyway...

I love celery with cream cheese and a little paprika on top, that is my favorite snack. Also, Kelsie mentioned how to make pork rind nachos - cheese, sour cream, guacamole and jalepeno slices...

Funny I should find this post right now... :) I just found this recipe on lowcarbfriends.com and it sound WONDERFUL!

Sweet Cinnamon Chips - here's the summary

They get Wonton wrappers, fry them lightly on each side in oil, drain them, put in a bag and shake with splenda and cinnamon - YUM! Also am going to try w/ some seasoned salt. The person also suggested using them w/ some salt and using for taco salads and dips. You have to limit them as there are carbs and I forget the count but it's a small amount.

I can't wait to try these!

My favorite snack is the same as Kaths now...spreadable cheese on unpeeled cucumbers! Yummy!! :) I also like ham and cheese rollups with some mayo! :)
