I'm planning a trip with my best friend to WDW the first week of May:woohoo: . She and I have similar vacation styles, so this is ideal. Now, my DH wants to tag along, even though our last trip was not enjoyable for him (he didn't like all the walking!!??), and I had planned to NEVER:headache: take him to WDW again! However, time heals all wounds, and I have agreed he can come along. He just wants to chill at the pool all day, while my friend and I hit the parks. Then we'd all go out at night to DD or PI. What I need is a recommendation for which resort to stay in that will accomodate this plan. :grouphug: Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Yes you two stay in one resort and he can stay at another!:rotfl:

No recommendation here...but I bet you are bummed! A trip with my best girlfriend sounds so great....but to have to drag along a cranky hubby...ugh. Maybe you'll get lucky, and he'll change his mind. Or, send him somewhere else with HIS best friend! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ordinarily I would recommend the YC/BC, but in this case, I'd recommend the Swan/Dolphin. He can choose from among several pools, (i.e, olympic style, grotto, hot tub) and hang out by the pool bar, and fitness center --and it won't be swarming with kids. You'd be near the boardwalk at night, and easily access to two parks, the Studio and Epcot where there are plenty of places to choose for restaurants. Or....rent him a scooter or leave him home!

If your budget will allow maybe you can get a family suite at ASMU or a 1 bedroom at a disney vacation club resort. This way you friend can have there own space in a seperate room and there are 2 TV's in these units.

WL or AKL both have very relaxing pool areas.

I see two ways to go with this. Do you want to accomodate his pool relaxation or the DTD access?

A nice pool with access to DTD and the boardwalk would be Beach Club.

Another option would be to go with AKL. They have a great pool and since they don't share bus service getting to and from DTD isn't as challenging as bus service with other resorts.

If you plan on going to PI or DD nightly, you could try POR/POFQ, OKW or SS. Each has a nice boat ride to the Disney Marketplace, it beats the buses.
My wife and I are trying SS for the first time in 2 weeks. We are splitting a 2 bedroom suite with my sister, her husband and 2 small children. We like to spend our evenings taking the boat to DM and walk to PI for a drink and go back and go to bed, it's always a nice relaxing way to end your night.

I'll second the Swan/Dolphin recommendation, for the quietness, fewer kids, more adult ammenities and atmosphere, and high level of service at the hotels.

Besides the proximity to the Boardwalk, 3 other resorts with restaurants and gift shops, and two parks, Swan/Dolphin has another advantage - should he get antsy and want to rent a car to go into Orlando for dining, shopping, or just take a drive, there is a car rental desk in the Dolphin.

Problem solved!!! I told DH that this is girls' week, no boys allowed tom tag along! He pouted briefly :sad1: , but he got over it pretty quick. Now, it's just my BFF, me, and a week at the most magical place on earth!!!

Thanks for all the input, everybody!

Oh, that's great! So where are you guys staying? BTW, we will be there the 1st week of May as well :cool1:

Hopefully, if everything works out, we'll be renting a condo at OKW or SSR.:woohoo:

def look into the BW ~villas or Inn (less kidlets than BC).
you can do the parks (walk or ferry to both MGM & EPCOT, bus to others), or pool during the day (the quiet pool is a great place to soak up some sun with a good book, take a swim without the crowds).
in the evening, walk to EPCOT for dinner, maybe drinking around the world :drinking1 (love those margaritas!!), watch illuminations
there is also quite a bit to do on the BW itself: restaurants, arcade games, jellyrolls (dueling piano bar), restaurants, surrey bikes, street vendors, magician/fire-eater, etc
you can rent watercaraft ~ from watermice up to illuminations cruise, a short walk/ferry ride to YC across the lake
& PI is still just a bus ride away :thumbsup2

(btw, DH & i are going 5/3-10 (BWVs) ~ maybe we'll see you there :wave2: )
