We are pretty set with all our ADR's except the last two. It is myself, my DH, DD12, DD8. So far we have Whispering Canyon Cafe, dinner(have eaten here before and love it), 1900 Park Fare, breakfast(one of our favorite breakfast spots), Chef Mickey's, dinner(our vacation just wouldn't feel complete if we didn' have dinner here). O.k. now our new choices are Concourse Steakhouse, dinner(I'm still not sure if this was a good choice, could use some opinions), Le Cellier, dinner(please tell me I made the right choice, I am really looking forward to this one), and O'hana's, dinner(This one looked really good too).

I need a couple of more choices. I was thinking about Portobell Yacht Club. The menu looks really good. I'd be grateful for some opinions. Any opinions on the restaurant at Japan in Epcot. Can't remember the name. My DD12 really wants to eat here. I was also thinking of dropping Concourse Steakhouse. My kids really want either Planet Hollywood, my Dd8 really wants this one or Rain Forest Cafe.

All of your opionions and input would really be greatly appreaciated. :flower:

I vote Ohana because I like it and that's the only reason for my vote.

IMHO, you might want to hold off on Planet Hollywood until you've tried all the other restaurants you want to try.

Have a great trip!

Ok here's what we love and dont see.

Cape May Cafe seafood buffet dinner.
Mama Melrose
Liberty Tree Tavern

I will comment on what we have experienced:

Le Cellier was the highlight of our trip last December 2005
'Ohana was and is one of our top 5. Your DD's will like it. Make sure you make ADR's so that you are in the restaurant during the MK fireworks
Ate at Teppanyacki in Dec. The food was ok, nothing special but the chef was fun, the kids enjoyed this very much.

One of our favorites that you did not mention was Boma. Eaten there twice and loved it both times.

Ohana's would be one of our choices and LeCellier's is a great choice too. I would pick Rainforest cafe over Planet Hollywood. Teppanyaki the food was very good and the kids would like the chefs entertaining them.

Thanks for all the great responses everyone.

MICKEEP, can you suggest what time to make an ADR at Ohana's in order to see the fireworks?

stacy6552, I LOVE Cape May Cafe, my dh doesn't. So I am trying to pick something both of us will like. Between Mama Melrose and LTT, which one would you choose?

fmed845, do you know if you get the same experience at Teppanyaki for lunch or dinner? Would like to think about doing lunch there, but only if the experience/chefs will do the same thing.

MouseWorshipin, what did you like about Ohana's. Was it the food, the entertainment, the service? I have read that they changed the menu recently. Does anybody have any info on that? :flower:

It depends on what time the fireworks are scheduled. Varies depending on how late MK is open. When you find the time for the evening you will be there, schedule your ADR about 1 to 1 1/2 hour before.

Another suggestion I have heard others make but we have not done this, is to go down to the Poly beach after dinner and watch the fireworks from there.

We thought the menu change was an improvement. The potatoes were much better than the rice and desert was fantastic. On the down side we liked the shrimp the old way it was cooked.

Yes you made a good decision with Lecelliar, we loved it and the food is wonderful. We like the Whispering Canyon and Teppanyaki, 50"s Prime Time is a lot of fun too.

50's Prime Time can be fun...Tepanyaki (Japan) is has great food, and I agree with the previous poster, that the kids will enjoy the "show" that the chefs put on. Rose and Crown (British Pub) is also a personal favorite.

I suggest Chefs De France. Just had the best steak dinner of my life there.

SOOOOOO TASTY!

I saw you ask about picking between LTT and Mama's...
Well, we went to both for dinner on our last trip in Dec....
We loved both...
What type of food do you like best? Italian fare or Homestyle Thanksgiving/Christmas style dinners?

If I had to choose between the 2 I would choose LTT ... 1, because of the character interaction, 2 because everything there was excellent and 3 because it is in the MK...

Mamas would be my choice if I were looking for something without characters.

It is soooo hard to pick places to dine, isn't it?!

cheerbop,

I didn't realize LTT was a character meal. We already have two of those, so maybe Italian would be the way to go. We all love Italian. Where is Mama Melrose's? Is it at MGM? Isn't it part of the Fantasmic package? That's another thing we haven't done yet, so maybe that is the way to go. :flower:

We had 5 Character meals on our last trip..our kids LOVE them!!!! (on the Dining plan.)

Yes, it is a character meal....It has Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale all in themed outfits...it was fun and the food was SO good....
It seemed more family oriented/homey in there than at some other places.

Yes, Mama's is a part of the Fantasmic pkg at MGM...that is exactly what we used it for.....very good...

Happy Trip!! :flower:

tinagirl,

I think I read your reviews earlier. You did the marathon, right? Do you think Chefs De France would be o.k. with a 12 and 8 year old? :flower:

We really liked Liberty Tree Tavern and The Garden Grill. Rainforest Cafe is really good too!

Go with the kids opions

All of us have been heavily involved in the planning stage. Well me and the two girls have, DH just usually goes with the flow. Actually he always teases me about being on these boards so much. But he doesn't complain when our vacation goes so smoothly. I have about two more ADR's to make. So I think me and DH will pick one and we will let the girls pick one. :flower:

I, myself, would choose LTT over Mama Melrose. And Yes, it is a character meal and the characters go from table to table spending time at each table and visiting more than once. I agree with the other poster in choosing Rainforest over Planet Hollywood. 50's Prime Time was fun and they serve "comfort foods" The kids may like Garden Grill which is another character meal served family style... And the restaurant slowly turns!!!
