Dh & I are thinking od a trip to Vero beach.vAfter looking around the other travel sites I am wondering if Vero Beach is for us.

Some reviews I have read say the beach isn't really that great. I would love everyone's opinion of Vero the good and the "bad" thanks :)

We visited Vero Beach Feb 19 and 20 and we loved it. The beach area is very nice. You can rent chairs and cabana's on the beach. Even though we were there during Presidents Weekend, it didn't seem too busy. (The resort was full too) We had an ocean view inn room with a private balcony. The room was a little bigger than the studio's at BWV and BCV. My kids had a ball. They had activities to keep the kids busy such as unbirthday party's, camp fire, pool games, croquet, mini golf, playground, sand building contest, etc. (They give you a list of what is happening and at what time)

The resort is set up with the inn rooms in the middle of the complex and the villa's to the sides of the inn and the beach cottages which are single standing buildings directly on the ocean.

The restaurant (Shutters) was okay- but reasonable priced. They do have another restaurant called Sonya's ( more upscale) and a bar /casual dining option too that has entertainment at night for adults.

Since we were only there for 2 nights we didn't go off the premises at all. The resort itself has a very relaxing atmosphere to it. Since we were in bed by 9:00 (preparing for Disney World) i don't know about the night life in town.

There is also an outlet mall south of the I-95 probably 7-10 miles away.

You can also learn to surf, rent jet ski's or go on a bike tour (I think it was 10 miles).

Enjoy if you go.

We love VB... It's the ideal place to relax and let your hair down.

After Hurricanes Francis and Jeanine two years ago, the beach is MUCH wider than it used to be.

The good...
Great views of the ocean.. (You can't get much closer..)
Nice Pool & waterslide
Lots of activities for the kids and adults...
Beautiful resort..

The bad..
Vero Beach and Sebastian are small communities. Don't go there expecting much of a nightlife.
(I really can't think of anything else...)

I would say to give it a chance.... You will love it...

Thanks so much. We don't go out anymore at night being we have a 5 year old LOL. It sounds wonderful! Hopefully Dh will want to go. We are deciding between there or a trip to Universal.

We spent two days in Vero Beach last week. Not at the Disney resort, but with my parents at their home. It was so beautiful on the ocean, and so relaxing. Watch out for that Florida sunshine though! You will burn soo much faster at the ocean than in Orlando! I learned the hard way!

President's Day it was very busy at the beach, but the next day it was almost all ours. I decided that for our WDW vacations from now on we will spend 2 days at VB either with my parents or at the Disney resort and the rest of the time in WDW. Maybe you would want to consider splitting your stay.

We love VB. We are going again in April after a weekend at the BWV. The activities for the kids are great.

Pros
Water slide is the best.
Bread pudding, back by popular demand!!
Sonyas seafood buffet, although $$$.
Ocean views
9-hole mini golf course next to the pool, unlimited play for length of stay $5

Cons
Far away from everything else.
Beach is very small during high tide.

Is MCO the closest major airport to Vero?

Also what are the high and low seasons down there? It sounds great.

Actually, Melbourne is the closest airport, but we always fly in via MCO... Flights are usually cheaper, plus MCO is MUCH bigger... There's more choices for rental cars from MCO.

Going through Melbourne would only save us 45 mins of drive time or so....

I'm heading to Vero in early April. I'm flying in/out of West Palm Beach. It's about the same distance and drive time as MCO. When I booked, PBI was slightly cheaper then MCO and had better times.
