Does anyone know the name and location of a ride I remember back in the late 70's at WDW in the MK? I believe riders got into huge swans and traveled along a rail and looked below them and saw some sort of sky or ocean scene. I've been trying to describe this to family and friends that were there with me
but they all think I'm crazy. HELP am I crazy or was there a ride like this once?

Thanks,
Sincerely,

Looking for Proof

There used to be Swan Boats at the MK, near the castle. But I didn't think they ever went inside a building or anything. They were just boats that floated around near the moat.

Welcome to the Dis Dopeyears:wave: It's funny you'd mention those Swan boats. Our first trip to MK was in 1978. We would see the boats, but the attraction was never active. It wasn't in the castle moat, but more toward the area where Main Street leads off to Tomorrowland. At least that is how I remember it.

What happened to the tiki tiki room? Is it now where aladdin is found? That was a sad sad show, but much needed AC in the florida heat.

The tiki room was still there the last time we were I think. I took DD into it. They changed the show though. It is a bit better.

My aunt used to be a swan boat driver back in 1973. My mother just brought out the pictures from our first trip last week. Her first day on stage at WDW was in the Tiki Tiki Room. When she went to wake up Jose (?), she fell over cut her leg on one of the props and had to be taken to the clinic because the blood would'nt stop. She still has the scar.

Happy Thoughts to all

I remember the swan boats! They were so pretty. I wish they still had them as I know my DD (3 1/2) would so enjoy riding them now! :)

The dock for the swan boat ride is still there at the end of the rose garden path. It is now used for the Alice in Wonderland tea party. As you enter that area, there is a topiary (maybe 2) of a swan. That's why the swan is there.

If you stand on the bridge leading to the Castle and look down into the water, you can see the rails upon which the Swan boats traveled

It's quite possible that your memory is playing tricks on you and you are combining a couple of rides into the same memory. The swan boats did exist, with the rails, but the other memories might be from another ride and they are becoming intermingled. I was at one time certain that the Tea Cups were right next to Small World and insisted that, when I saw it down closer to Winnie the Pooh, they had moved it.

I was soundly corrected by a number of my family members but I still picture it up there. Oh, well! Pretty sure you are remembering the Swan boats, however!

BTW, the tiki room is still there, right where it always was. Isn't it funny how the brain works (or doesn't work) sometimes.
