Need Some New Ideas

DH & I are going back to The World in October this year. This is our 4th year in a row...so now I need some new ideas. When we went last year, we did the specialty cruise to see Illuminations, we did the KTTK Tour and we spent some time walking the board walk. Anyone have any ideas for different things to do around The World? BTW, we have decided to get the package including the dining plan, so if anyone has any ideas regarding restaurants that would be great also. Thanks...

Resort hop, check out the Poly and have a tropical drink, go sit at the Grand Floridian and listen to the live band and pianist, explore the grounds....take the monorail through the Contemporary

two of our favorite things from our last trip were playing mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and renting the little speedboats from the Poly - even my 76 year old FIL loved them!

DH and I did the Segway tour in EPCOT this past summer and we really enjoyed it. One trip my DH and sons snorkeled in the Living Seas (no admission necessary). DH and sons also did parasailing from the CR and enjoyed it.

thank you very much...they have some really interesting things to do. DH & I have just started cooking together and we really enjoy it. Those cooking classes sound like fun!!

If it is just two of you and you don't have kids to worry about, try and make the most out of the World Showcase. Make sure you see the bands Off-Kilter and British Invasion, and enjoy the atmosphere at the Rose and Crown, that is if you drink of course. Any place there for dinner is great, but the best atmosphere IMHO is at Mexico.

Do you like animals? Go to the Maharajah Jungle Trek right towards closing. The sun is going down and quite often the Tigers wake up and start romping around. It is really fun to watch!

We are big eaters, big drinkers and absolutely love animals. Also, we don't have any children yet so we are free to do pretty much anything. I really love the idea of hanging out in teh Rose & Crown. We did that for a little while when we were there last year and DH loved it. I love Mexico. The margaritas are to die for!!

Can you tell me about how long hte Segway tour lasted. I would love to ride around on one of those things!!

Our WDW vacation philosophy is to try to avoid doing anything in Orlando that we can do at home! That said, here are some ideas:

1. Try to stop at B&C for sundaes or burgers (or both!) We think the burgers are great, surpassed only by Margaritaville.

2. Dinner at Cal Grill is outstanding. Try to get a table with a view of the MK fireworks around the right time. That will be easier on a weeknight.

3. I agree with dbm20th on the San Angel Inn at Epcot, and I recommend trying a dish that you might not find other places. Their menu has a lot of items that you won't find at your local Mexican restaurant.

4. Have a contest on who can score the highest on Buzz. (You can decide what prize the winner gets!)

5. Wander around Tom Sawyer's Island. Eat lunch at Aunt Polly's.

6. At MGM, visit Mama Melrose's for lunch, or if you're looking for some (fun) abuse, try the 50's Prime Time.

7. If there are young children on the trip, get a ride in the monorail cockpit. Try to do this by boarding at a less busy time at one of the resorts.

8. If you don't have one, get a Pal Mickey.

That's all I can think of right now.

Tim, who thinks that it's been way too long since he's done any of these things and that it's way too long until the next time he gets to do them!

We have fun looking for "Hidden Mickey's". There is even a book you can purchase to help you out. It's a lot of fun.

Or, how about "people watching". Sometimes my DH and I stopped to take a break with our DS's and just watch the hustle and bustle of others.

The putt putt golf courses are fun as well as shopping thru Disney Marketplace.

How about taking in a movie at the AMC or a show at Pleasure Island.

I think the Segway tour took 2 hours, but went by quickly. The first hour is safety and practice inside a classroom. The second hour we went around World Showcase. We did the earlier time (9:00), so we were able to tour WS before it was opened to the other guests. It was great. The instuctors give some interesting tidbits about the countries, but it's mostly taking you on a small obstacle course around the "World". It was fun to stay in line like ducks and have others wonder how they can try those things too. We were done by the time it was getting pretty hot (it was July).
