O.K. fellow Diser's, I need some input for Sci Fi dine in theatre before I make an ADR. Do you always get to sit in a car?
There will be 4 of us. Me, DH, Ds(5) and DD (2).
How was the food, atmosphere, etc?

I believe they do have regular tables as well. We went the 2nd week of October 2006, and were able to walk in without ADR's as soon as they opened and got a car at the front near the movie screen. The food was ok, but it is the kind of place that you eat at more for the atmoshpere anyway. My DS's were 7&8 when we were there last and they loved it. The only complaint from my youngest DS was they didn't show an entire movie. They sat in the front seat of the car and my DH and I sat behind them. When the couple that sat in the last row finished their meal, she told them that the driver's (my DS's) would take care of the bill. Then she walked up to my DS's and joked with them about paying the person in the last row's bill since they were driving. Also they got driver's license since they did seat in the front row of the car:drive: .

I agree the food isn't great, but the milkshakesare awesome, the dip and onion rings are very good too! The atmosphere is what I would go back for ! The cars are so neat!!

We were 4 people and got lucky and got a car all to ourselves! It looked like some cars held 4 people and some held 6 and there were a few tables too. When we checked in I made sure my DH asked for a car and she said "No problem".

My kids loved it. They were never so quiet during a meal and it was great that I sat with my DS in front and DH and DD sat in the back, so the kids couldn't bother each other like they usually do during a meal.

There are three kinds of tables at the Sci-Fi, a 3 row car with room for 2 adults in each row, tables with umbrellas in the back featuring stools to sit on, or a 2 row car with room for 2 adults for each row. This means if you come with a party of say 2 people or even 4, you may be sitting with other people.

My DH and I had lunch at Sci-Fi last October and it was really one of the highlights of our trip! The atmosphere is amazing - you really feel like you are transported to a 50's drive-in and we thought the food was very good! My DH loved the movie and we stuck around until the whole reel had finished. You could certainly request a car when you check-in - I believe there are more cars than regular tables so your chances of getting a car are very good! Have a great time!

I was just there two weekends ago and walked up at 11:30 and was told they could seat our party of 5 right then and there, but ALL the cars were taken with reservations. The, what looked like, assistant manager said that the ressies were for the cars, and that if I wanted a car in the future to note it on the ressie.

We've never eaten there, but it looks like fun for the kids.

We went there in '05, and didn't bother in '06, won't be this year either. It was just really dark, dingy and tacky. The waiting area alone was spectacularly unimpressive. (I mean, is there a reason you have to look at bare plywood walls and 2x4 frames?) And yeah, you sit in cars, but most of them are situated as if you were really in a car. So my son and I sat in the back seat looking at the back of my husband and daughter's heads. It was almost impossible to cary on a conversation. The little 'shelf' you eat off of it tiny, and it's just really badly planned out. We did have a GREAT server, and the food was OK. But it was really kind of a depressing setup. Not at all what we expected.
