Need some info on the Englewood FL area

We are meeting family for a couple days in Englewood FL in February. We are very familiar with Anna Maria Island. Not sure where to pick as a homebase... Manasota Key/Siesta Key/Venice...somewhere else?
We like to walk on the beach. Thoughts?

I just read this morning about some woman being eaten alive by alligators in Englewood, so I thought that was the topic of the thread, but anyways. My cousin lives in Venice. Siesta, Anna Maria, Bradenton, cant go wrong with any of them.
