Does anyone know if it is now necessary for your credit card to have the "chip and pin"???? We are coming to England in a little more than 2 weeks and now I'm panicking a bit because my bank doesn't have them on the card....

Yes it is compusory here now - but I imagine there must be some contingency plans for tourists.

If you have a card thats not set up for chip and pin you can just sign when you use it, its only the cards that are set up for chip and pin that can only be used with the pin now.
