Need some help with trip insurance companies

Who do you use and which ones are better? I need to add it for our upcoming trip. We are staying at Bonnet Creek this trip. My mom is very ill and I am afraid to even go on this August trip this year.

We use www.insuremytrip.com. You put in your travel info, and they give you quotes from a ton of companies. You can then compare the policies and decide which on is best for you. You might want to find one that has a "cancel for any reason" clause in it-- that way you don't have to worry about whether the insurance company thinks that your mom's illness is a coverable reason to cancel, you can just cancel it for any reason and get most of your $$ back. --Katie

Always read every letter of the fine print with trip insurance companies. It amazes me how many different things are not covered.

For our trip Nov 08, we went with Travel Guard. I just looked up our old email. It was only $110, and it included a pre-existing condition waiver and trip interruption coverage, which is what you need if your mom is sick. This is what our policy included. I called and spoke to a rep to order to make sure we got what we needed.

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers for my mom. She has a rare disease with no cure except for a risky stem cell transplant. I think I used this company in the past but it has been a few years since I used trip insurance. Thank goodness the year I had it we needed it. My son got sick and they reimbursed us for his doctor appointment to the hotel room and his medicines.
