Need some help with B&W photos

I saw on the Themeparks board a pic that had the background was B7W and the main feature(People in this case) where in color. They gave a brief HOW-TO on it, but I am a poto bone head and didn't understand. I currently have Photoimpressions, which came in a bundle with a fuji camera. If anyone can help me I would be most greatfull, Thanks

Not sure about that software but the key to doing it is masks, heres a tutorial
