Need some help..Please!

My family and I are planning our first DVC trip for 2008. We want to stay at the BCV for 7 days. We also want to do a Disney Cruise for 3 days (I am not so thrilled with the cruise I am very worried about sea sickness! ). Other DVC members say it is better to rent out points and use the cash for the cruise. I received a decent price quote from my AAA agent.
How do I rent out the points?? We banked our 2006 points and we were going to bank 2007, is that what we do? I know it is a huge question. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing for everyone involved. Thank you for all the wonderful responses in adavnce!

If you banked your 2006 points, you will have to use them during your 2007 Use Year. Or you will lose them. You can only bank them for one year. What is your use year??? And when in 2008 do you plan to go?

Renting out points is a lot of work. If you are still figuring out how DVC works, you may just want to use your points for the cruise to make it easy on yourself.

We just closed on the SSR on 2/07...We purchased the points on 1/20/07. When we purchased the points we received 2006 points...I hope I am saying this right...
We are planning a trip in 2/2008..
It does seem like a lot of work, but I know we will not be going before 2/2008 and I do not want to loose anything..

With an Aug UY, your points are good from Aug 1 to July 31.

If you banked your 2006 points, they are now good from 8/1/2007 to 7/31/08. You also have your 2007 points good for the same time period. Your 2008 points are good from 8/1/08 to 7/31/09 unless you borrow them into your 2007 UY.

If you are not planning your trip before 8/1/08, you will lose your 2006 banked points. Since you are looking at 2/08, you could use all three years worth of points for your reservations if you want to. We used our points for a four day cruise a couple of years ago. It was convenient and we only had to pay the $75 fee to DCL, plus our expenses on the ship.

We don't rent our points. We use them, banking or borrowing if necessary. We don't want the headache of dealing with non-members. If you have a friend or relative who could use them, you make a reservation for them and either ask for money or gift it to them.

Another question are you limited how many times you can borrow points...For example...If I wanted to borrow from 2009, could I than borrow the following from 2010 points?

You can borrow every year if you need to. That just shows that you need more points and need to add more.

You can use up to three years worth of points at any one time.
