My family's planning window is smaller than I'd prefer. Taking the kids out of school not an option for summer 05'. I'm targeting mid August, technically this is still within Disney's busy time. While I consider my family veterans of WDW, I'm looking for some opinions & options around this busier time. It's been quite a while since I've visited during prime time.

Thanks

Our family usually goes the last week of March, but this past August, we made a second quick trip. First of all, it's hot and humid, so plan for mid day breaks somewhere inside to cool off, and bring water bottles! We thought the crowds would be less than what we were used to when we're there during spring break, but it was pretty crowded. Typical wait times for the "E" ticket rides, 45 minutes. Brief rain showers popped up around 5 p.m., but within an hour, the skies were clear. But, any time is a good time to visit Disney!!!!!

I have been in hot and humid and remember to drink water. At the end of August is the best time to go because the southern schools have start school by then.

we were there the day before "Charley"....bil said fla. schools started aug. 9 (i remember this date cuz i am "supposed" to have a birthday this day)....crowds weren't as bad as i thought they'd be....but, that could've been becuz of 1) school back in or 2) hurricane on the way. i DO believe cuz of the hurricane the weather wasn't quite as hot. i, however, love the heat and never complain about it (dh was hot tho.....) the longest we waited for a ride was almost an hour (Spl Mtn) and that was mid-afternoon. we did EE and had Fantasyland, Tomorrowland & ToonTown Fair done by 12:30ish. there was one thing i did notice however.....the week we were there was the last week the parks were open late on summer (peak) hours. i noticed the following week the parks were going to start closing earlier...so, anything after the first full week of august is going to close maybe an hour or two sooner....... be prepared for hot and pray for no hurricanes.......

We were there this Aug 12-23. We had been told that this would not be a busy time...but then CHARLEY visited. The parks were busy the first few days.....Disney had electricity, water, ice and air conditioning...the rest of Orange County did not...they didnt have school either. The last 3 or 4 days were not busy. The longest we waited for a ride was TOT for 20 minutes. The Kali River Rapid ride had no wait at all........we got on...got off and ran and got on again as soon as we reached the loading area again. It is HUMID but not to bad if you drink H20 and rest and take it slow. It did rain (thunder and bad lightning) every afternoon around 3:00 or 5:00 but it does clear up pretty fast. I am unsure if this is common or if it had to do with the Hurricane that had passed through. Good Luck. I would do it again...in fact I am sure we will as DH and I are both teachers and school Vacations are just too much $$$$$$. good luck
