Hi! I'm a newbie to posting on these boards, but I have used this board to help plan past Disney vacations and it's been a great resource! Last year we brought our twin sons for their first trip to Disney and ever since they have asking about when they get to go back. So we thought it would be fun to go to Disney World for our boys 5th birthday this October. We have never been to Disney for a birthday celebration or in the month of October so I was wondering if anyone can send some info my way on special "things" for my boys' birthday. What restaurant would you recommend for their birthday dinner? I would appreciate all the help I can get!! Thanks!

Lol I came to post this exact question for my ~going to turn 4~year old son.

Well, be sure to get them to wear their birthday buttons, they may not get "anything" except Happy Birthday from CM's and maybe from other visitors. Be sure to have it on your ressies for room and for meals as they may have a little extra surprise from Mickey and I say May have something. I do know that some restaurants know the child is having a birthday they will receive a cupcake with a candle in it for dessert:) I think either Chef Mickeys or Cystal Palace would be a fun place to celebrate their special day:) Happy vacation and Happy Birthday to your twins a little early:) Once you have your ressies for the resort, if you would pm me, I would love to send them a birthday card..I would send it so they would get it while they are there:) I would need resort, boys names and arrival date:) Enjoy the special magic:)

If you are there on the actual day of their birthday they can get a birthday gift card at guest relations at any park or a free one day ticket. The gift card is for the price of admission which I think is about $64 for each child. You have to show their birth certificate and your park ticket and they each get a gift card to spend at almost all the shops in disney! Some shops at Epcot in the individual countries arent included and you can't use it on meals or food. My DD loved having "birthday money" to spend at WDW! Also, if it is in your budget, go to the Hoop De Doo Review show at Ft. Wilderness Campground. Your kids will absolutely love it. All you can eat ribs, chicken, strawberry shortcake and a funny great show with lots of audience participation. Beer and wine included for adults. It is pricey, but well worth it. Remember you are getting a show along with dinner. I promise you that your boys will have a great time.

Some people have said that if you tell your hotel guest services that it's your son's birthday, the day of his birthday, he will recieve a call from one of the Disney characters (pre-recorded).

At Chef Mickeys, they will give him a cupcake if you mention to them that it's his birthday (and also a place mat for his food). I took a picture of my cupcake if you want to see it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31008361@N08/3307075735/

When he is meeting a character, mention to the character that it's his birthday, they usually get exicted and start pointing to the button and asking how old he is. It would get them exicted :)
