Need some help in picking where to stay on disneyworld 2013

They won't let you do that without buying your tickets twice as they form part of the package, at least when the DDP is free. Last year we wanted to do this with the free DDP and I wanted a week at the Poly and a week at the Beach Club. They would only let me do it if I booked two separate packages so we just spent a week at the Beach Club. I did ring twice to see if the first person had told me wrong but I got the same response. It's worth trying, but I couldn't do it.

It all depends on how you buy your package. some package combos will and some will not.

I also agree on switching your weeks it will make a big difference on your trip.

Thanks everyone for all your info it has been really helpful
i have looked at the dates for use to go a week later the prices goes up about 200 to 300 pounds person, but i could get it about the same price or just a bit more and go a week or so earlier. but i was looking to go there for the christmas feeling, as it was really nice in Disneyland paris. i looked to what everyone was saying about the dining plan, so we looked into booking old key west 1 bedroom villa which has everything to be able to eat in if we need to, plus we would be able to have breakfast at our pace. If the little wants to sleep we can put them in a different room and not wake them up. what do you think. :scratchin

Hi there,

I think that what you have suggested at OKW is a great idea. Our babies are the same age and we are returning in May this year. We have been to DW each year since 2004 with our older children (7 & 8 yrs) and for a while now have been staying at AKL as it is our favourite resort.

This year however is a different matter and we have decided to opt for the FQ (as we did when they were babies). The reason being is that we really enjoyed walking along the river to the Riverside to grab a bite to eat/drink in the evening. It was lovely and relaxing at the end of a day in the parks to put them in the stroller and enjoy the peace and quiet whilst they got to sleep, Or to enjoy the peaceful boatride to DTD.

I know this time will be completely different as we have to older children that will want to go to the parks in the evening to watch parades/fireworks etc so DD3 will just 'Go with the flow' but I like having the option. I also plan to maybe leave the older girls in the park with my husband and maybe get the bus back with the baby to walk along the river, get the boat to DTD on my own etc and meet back up at the pool later on. If we were at AKL I wouldn't have that option (unless I decide to brave it for the first time and drive the hire car leaving them to bus it!!). However much we love AKL there is nowhere really to 'walk' with the baby. We will still visit to see the animals and get something to eat.

That's just my opinion however. The OKW one bed sounds perfect and I would certainly do that if funds permitted but we have decieded to go twice in the next 12 months, buy annual passes and stay at a moderate.

I also wouldn't suggest the DDP if you have to pay for it. There is nothing worse than being totally tied to being in a certain park at a certain time when the children are having a melt down. If it's free then I would suggest maybe booking and sticking to the character meals for your eldest then maybe changing some of the table service meals that yo have booked into quick service if you need to when you are there. and just go with the flow! The dining plan has actually spoilt some of our trips with how structured you need to be with it, we have learnt now not to get so hung up on it - it's just food at the end of the day. If you have older children then it can be fantastic and be a big part of the holiday but with unpredictable little ones (apart from the character meals) maybe not so!!

Other things I would suggest taking for the baby would be;

Snooze Shade - From Jojo Maman Bebe as it will help the baby not get so distracted when trying to sleep. Also has SPF 50 protection and keep bugs off.

Really bright coloured ribbon - To tie on stroller handle. We always take a bright pink one with lime green spots and you can spot it a mile off amongst the hundreds of strollers in the stroller parks near rides.

Mozzie Bands - I just got these for the children from Jojo Maan Bebe. They are yellow coil bands to stop mozzie bites so you don't have to worry about the chemicals and getting in eyes etc. I am planning to put it on the babies ankle.

Worth a thought anyway. I have always found suggestions on this forum great and wouln't have known about half the things without it!!

Thanks to everyone

who post some very good info for me and my family.
We have now book our holidays to florida and we are staying in old key west villa i hope the little ones will like it. :thumbsup2

Anymore tips as in what to do or bring in november time would be great.
Is there lots of mosquitos in November or other types of insects?

Disney really sprays to keep the bugs down so you won't have to worry. I have never used mosquito repellent at WDW.

Did you book a studio or 1 bed room.

1 bedroom villa, thanks regarding the insects, would you need sun cream that time of year? The sun cream that we use for going to spain would that be fine?

We stayed in a one bed villa from 29th Oct to 12th Nov last year. Our children were 12, 8 and 5 at the time. I wrote a trip report and included some photos of OKW. The link is in my signature.

Btw, I absolutely loved the resort.:goodvibes

I would bring it for the kids but I probably wouldn't wear it myself. We go in December and rarely wear sunscreen and I am fair skinned with red hair.

We didn't need any insect repellant. We took p20 (sunscreen) with us which we applied once and reapplied after swimming. None of us got burnt and most of us are fair.

We are going in November with a 5 year old and a 22month old and staying in AoA Mermaid rooms. I have to say in the end it was between those and PO. We only went for AoA in the end because we got a really good deal that meant it was cheaper than staying in the other value resorts!

We have stayed in AKL before we had kids (on our honeymoon infact) and it is by far our favourite resort, however we only want to go back there when the kiddies are old enough to appreciate it as much as we do!

Like you, its gonna be our first time with the kiddies. I am so excited but panicing loads about what to take and what to expect! :rotfl2:
