As many of you know, my husband Antonio and I are in the process of adopting a daughter from China. We have been dreaming about this little one for over 5 years and are so thrilled to finally be able to turn our dream into a reality.
We have worked many months on the paperwork part of the process and finally completed that last week. Calling it "paperwork" doesn't do it justice! We have been fingerprinted, interviewed, analyzed, poked, prodded, fingerprinted again, interviewed again, poked and prodded some more, notarized, certified, and finally APPROVED! This is very exciting news for us! We will be parents for the first time within a year!
During this long wait, we will be working on several projects. Yes, we are raising money to pay for the adoption. No, we are not coming to you to ask for money. Our fundraising efforts to date have been selling my custom candy favors to adopting families via the internet, selling crafts at craft fairs, etc... Right now we are working on a project with several other families who are in the process of adopting--an affordable cookbook that can be sold by adopting families. And that is why I am writing to you today! We need recipes!!! : )
This group we have here on the DIS sure are a diverse group of people and I know that you must have, at your fingertips, a huge variety of recipes. Some may be tried and true casseroles, others might be vegetarian dishes or gluten-free or even kid friendly recipes. We are looking for recipes of all sorts and would love to add your submission to our book.
Once we have collected recipes, we will put them together into a cookbook that will be sold this Fall. We would love your help. If you have a favorite recipe that you would be willing to share with our group, please email it to me as soon as you can. I will take care of the rest. When you send the recipe, if you could keep the following instructions in mind, that would be great!
INSTRUCTIONS
Your recipes should fit into one of the following SECTIONS of the cookbook:
Appetizers & Beverages,
Soups & Salads,
Vegetables & Side Dishes,
Main Dishes,
Breads & Rolls,
Desserts
Cookies & Candy
or
This and That
List all ingredients in order of use.(Include container sizes,e.g.,8
oz pkg.,or 16 oz can)
Keep directions in paragraph form not steps.
Include temperatures and cooking,chilling,baking,and/or freezing
times.
We will include your name in the cookbook, unless you ask us not to, so please include the correct spelling of your first and last name.
We are looking for a diverse offering of recipes that are tried and true. And of course we want you to remember that the book will be for sale very soon! : )
All profit from the sales of the book will go to bring our daughter home.
Thanks for your help. I cannot wait to see all the great recipes come pouring in!
Marcy
P.S. If you are not the main cook in your house, please pass this email to that person! : ) Also, if you know someone who is not on this board but might like to contribute recipes, feel free to forward this email to them. Thank you!
