I did some exploring back to the old Swamp Trail, and on my way out found something I hadn't seen before. Behind the 300 loop there is a water way. The grassy area between the loop and water is now a pet walk. But the area looks like it use to be a trail or road. I found the remains of a bridge at the south end. Does anyone know what this was for???

I know the bike barn used to be located at the 300 loop, and we used to canoe out that way. Can't tell you for sure though if what you are looking at is part of an old trail or train track though.

I don't think it is part of the railroad. I found the remains of that bridge as shown on the map. The one I found is the one I drew the arrow to. The remains look the same as the ones for the train, so it was more than a wooden pedestrian bridge like some of the ones in use today.

Maybe it was a path used to get supplies/staff out to the campfire area for marshmellow marsh, which would have canoed out to the end of the canal(near bay lake)

ynottony99 - could you post that whole map? I would like to see the entire thing. When is it from?

Not sure about the year. It is from a check-in folder, sometime in the 70's?

Bumping with another photo looking pretty much South, 300 loop on the right. The remains of the bridge are down at the end of the grass, with the blackade across.

ynottony99 -I think that is the old foot bridge. Back in the day people could walk on the bank and follow the people in canoeing. I’m going to FW March 9th if no one can tell a better answer I will find out and post my findings.

That could be. We are going to be there March 8th-11th. Perhaps we will cross paths!!

I don’t think the canoe still follow this path so I will try to explain it. Look at the map you posted. The canoes would leave bike barn go around the pool area like they do today going behind 1500 loop to the main water way. At the main way you would turn left and paddle down the main water way until you got to the bridge you are talking about. Turn left you would go under the bridge you are talking about. This little river took you past 500 & 1400 and 600 and lead you wrote back to Bike Barn It was one big canoeing loop.
