Need some healthy snack ideas.

So, here's the story. My fiance and I both work 2nd shift. We get home from work around 12:15am, stay up until 4:30 or 5am, and sleep til 12:30 or 1pm.

We usually have sandwiches or something small for lunch around 1:30pm, eat a normal dinner at work around 6:30pm, and make something around 12:30am when we get home. We like eating snack-y type foods (quick and simple, usually finger food) when we get off work, because we watch TV or a movie while we eat to wind down before we take showers and get ready for bed.

Anyway, the problem is: all the snack-y food we've been eating is JUNK. We'd both like to lose some weight so we want to start making that meal a little healthier, and plus it's been irritating my stomach to eat junk that late at night.

So, does anyone have some good ideas that are fairly healthy? I'd prefer not to cook TOO much that late at night as we live in a condo and I don't want to wake our neighbors up banging pots and pans around. If I need to, I can make something in advance and just pop it in the oven when we get home. Oh, and I'll throw another wrench into the problem: I'm a picky eater. I don't like onions, tomatoes, berries of any kind, cucumbers, celery, or avocados.

ANY help at all would be appreciated! :goodvibes

The healthiest low-calorie things you can eat are fruits and vegetables. Think of ways to eat them that you will enjoy.

Make a fruit and cheese platter with cubed cheeses (e.g., pepper jack, brie and cheddar) and grapes, sliced apples and fresh pineapple (buy it sliced and cored in the produce department).

Cut-up fresh fruit is great with strawberry yogurt as a dip. Baby carrots are great low-calorie dippers. Have them with hummus, ranch dressing, or Greek yogurt seasoned with fresh garlic, lemon juice and salt/pepper.

Salads are good. The pre-packaged, all ingredients-included salads from Dole (like Caesar) are yummy and easy. With your own stuff, make a tossed salad with cubes of fresh mozzarella and dressed in balsamic vinigarette. Or have a big old-fashioned spinach salad with baby spinach leaves (look for it prewashed and organic in your supermarket), chopped hard-boiled eggs, and crumbled bacon.

maybe you could make up some roll ups ( ham, turkey/cheese, roast beef) and slice them before hand... maybe make some individual salads, or cheese and crackers....another think I eat at night is cereal with fruit, popcorn, English muffin pizzas...

Well that was what I was going to suggest, celery with reduced fat flavored cream cheese (I like the veggie one) or peanut butter.

So, since I can't suggest that to you, I'm afraid I got nothin'. :rotfl:

Looks like you've gotten some good suggestions from others though.
