We never really do stockings at our house as we're not their for christmas morning. We're usually at my moms. Well, this year is the year we'll be home for once. :lmao: So.... now I need to find some stocking stuffers! There's DH, and our three girls, ages 8, 6, and 22 months.

What do I put in them?

I was thinking about getting some sort of littlest pet shop thing and putting the animals in there. Maybe some glittery make up dress up type stuff for the girls. No clue for hubby.

My mom always does the stockings, and i honestly can't remember what she puts in them!

Bonnie Bell stuff
Socks
Fun Hair Things
Chewing Gum
Love the Little Pet Idea
Toothbrushes

For hubby
Deoderant
Magazine
Silky Boxers tied up in a bow
Gum/Mints

Its a start!
Catrin

I don't know if you have a Michael's store near you, but they have TONS of Disney stuff, most all $1.00/each, that are PERFECT stocking stuffers. They had princesses, tinkerbell, mickey mouse, cars and possibly others (I bought all the princess stuff for my DD-age 2).

I'm no expert, but here is what I usually get or have so far:

Kids (8 and 5)
socks
underwear (they expect these every year :rotfl: )
slipper socks
Chocolate santa or snowmen
DS games
DVDs
craft supplies

DF
boxers
pair of slippers
DVD
his fav chocolate
some fun naughty stuff :rolleyes1

Mom and Sis
Phisoderm face wash
candles
Itunes card
fav chocolates

I used to also get lots of filler crap, but then you throw it all away not too much later. This year we are sticking with useful!!

Good luck - we have such fun with the stockings!

my brother, sister, and I usually all chip in and get my mom a loaded stocking. I usually wait until right before Christmas so they can go with me. I have no clue what to get her this year. I do have some stuff from bath and body works already, but I usually sneak in her cabinets to see what she needs. :)

I "stuff" stockings for 3 guys, but you can adapt the list.Some of the things I've done in the past are;

socks
underwear
coloring book
crayons
deodorant
body wash
shaving cream
lifesaver book
gum
special "big" candy bar
nuts
poster
magazine
chapstick
hair gel
toothbrush
assorted candy (buy 1 bag and dump between all the stockings)
Pringles
Goldfish
and an orange or apple in the toe :)

I like to put one "gift" in the stockings, too. Maybe a music CD, a game for Nintendo DS or a book depending on the person.

Here's what I get for DD (7): *not all in one year - assortment may vary by year!

lip smacker / bonne bell
stickers / markers / pencils
socks or gloves
webkinz figurines (on sale @ limited too for just over a buck)
special new toothbrush (see DH below)
small travel games, like uno cards etc.
roll up a paperback book

for DH (more than 7 :) )

Dunkin donuts gift card for his morning coffee
shave cream (I'll probably just get a can out of the BJ's three pack we always have :rolleyes1 )
a wii game (we're not really doing presents for each other so...)
underwear (he gets so embarrassed)
his favorite gum
a new toothbrush (not a hint - he always gets one)

And the dog gets one with cookies and stuffed animals

Things I have put into my daughter's stockings
Smencils
Lip gloss/Chapstick
gloves
scarves
Earrings
Some kind of candy = she loves white chocolate so it's something white
Any kind of add on to one of the bigger gifts. like the year they got the wii she got an extra controller in her stocking
Nail polish
paperback books
American girl little things
Oh and always a magazine.

I am really heartbroken because my favorite little toy store closed last year. He always had little different things around the holidays- like paper dolls, or shadow puppets - all little things to go into the stocking.
I saw individual Littlest pet shop single pets at Walmart for under $2.

DH
Underwear
Socks
Tiny flashlight
hand warmers
New gloves
hat
Yankee stuff(like pens, mousepad ect)
Gift cards to ITunes, Borders, Dunkin donuts
paperback book
New cologne
some grooming gadget- like nose hair clippers:rotfl2:

We do a variety of "useful" things too - mostly!

Soft fleecy socks (really cheap at AC Moore)
Kids' toothpaste/toothbrushes (the Disney princess, Cars, Batman, etc.) buy when on sale
Some Christmas candy or cookies
Build A Bear small accessory
Craft/scrapbooking supplies
Cute pens, pencils, erasers (makes homework more fun - bought after back-to-school for pennies)

DH gets BBQ spice rubs, an exotic foreign beer or two, Walkers Shortbread cookies, and milk chocolate bars/kisses (ugh - the rest of us are dark chocolate lovers!).

Dog gets treats and toys.

Everyone (except the dog!) gets one or two scratch lottery tickets - some always win!

Have you looked at Target's Dollar section? I'm on my way to making an entire Hello Kitty stocking for my DD this year. There might be some princess filler in it as well, but I've picked up a bunch of cool stuff at Target.

And for my DH I normally refer to his stocking as the "You Stink" stocking because I always put in there toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, AXE spray, hair gel, body wash, shaving cream, candy.

I think it all started one year when my Mom realized she didn't have any stocking stuffers and it was Dec. 24th. The closest store open was CVS and she went there and stocked up on pharmacy stuff for EVERYONE. It was pretty funny when we got to the stockings that year. It's now a tradition -- a stocking isn't a stocking without deoderant and a toothbrush!

This has turned into a great thread. :)

What is the strangest thing you've ever received (or given?) in a stocking?

What is the strangest thing you've ever received (or given?) in a stocking?

My brother proposed to his GF through her stocking - ring tucked (in the box) in the toe.

And I haven't seen it, but I know of people who have announced babies on the way with a preg. test in the stocking (I hope in a plastic bag!).

always puts a big orange in the toe (DH's tradition..) and that takes up a lot of space. :)

In our house Santa only brings for kids.. so kids are responsible for filling the adult's stockings. (Mine are 7/9 but have been doing this for years.) We buy some small candies for them to put in, but basically they stuff it with things they make.. pictures mostly, or they will write a story, or make some small crafts. They come up with all kinds of cute ideas, and it takes the pressure off us for something. Maybe you can start that tradition? Your older two would probably be into it. This way you can make sure yours gets done too.:santa:

For my kids I buy things all year when the $Spot is 25cents, and I use them for stockings and Easter basket. Hasbro also had some cute Potato Head pieces (We collect the Disney sets) and they will both be getting some of those.. oh yes.. and a few Disney pins of course.

We only get 3 gifts in our stockings to represent the 3 gifts that Jesus got at his birth. They are usually nicer things since there are only 3. This year:
DS 18 Dolce and Gabbana cologne, DVD, ?
DD 7 DVD, American Girl book, DS game
DD 4 DVD, ?

As you can tell, I'm lagging...

It depends on the year and how much money I have.

1 year I decided no candy so I bought,

Dh got a solar calculator that opened like a book.

I got a Hand Held 21 casino Game - still floats around in my purse for those times you have to wait around.

Dd got a couple of cartoon VSH Tapes and a Disney Songs Cassette

While they liked their gifts. I got lots of complaints about the no candy!

I haven't even started this year!!!

Check Target. They offer Gift Cards that double as other things. Recently I bought my kids (for their stockings) gifts cards that came in a clear box with a Kheil's lipgloss, and gift cards that were also 64M USB thumb drives in the shape of a dog. I didn't have to pay anything over the amount I put on the cards.

For those with a Target store nearby their $1 bins are great! I just bought DS7 and DD4 a bunch of diseny stuff there! Princess and Cars stickers, pens, notebooks, the cutes princess jewelry, all for a buck each!
