I shipped a package to Canada from Virginia on December 27 - (auction was won 1/21 - but told buyer I would ship after Christmas) Global Priority. I heard from buyer yesterday saying the package had not yet arrived. It was shipped to a P.O. Box (Marathon, Ontario P0T 2E0). From what the USPS website says, it should take 4-6 days. So it's been roughly 12 days not including weekends or holidays.

The buyer asked a question, which is displayed on the auction page. "How much to ship to Canada?" I told him $12.90. This was $12 for Global Priority and .90 for Certificate of Mailing. The buyer won the auction and sent immediate PayPal payment. He didn't ask me for insurance and didn't pay for insurance.

So... in the event he files with PayPal (which he threatened to do if the item was not received). What do I do?

I have my PO receipt and my Certificate of Mailing and customs form.

Did I neglect to do something else I should have done?

I haven't had this situation before and thought I would check with the experts here! (Item sold for $65).

Thanks!

Melissa

If you have proof that you mailed it, which it sounds like you do, send the buyer a copy. if they did not purchase ins, its not your fault, you did your job by sending the item out. paypal will take your side on this one if you can show proof that you sent it. in my exp. shipping to CAN is very slow. i have seen packages take up to six weeks to be delivered.

now for the 20/20. i tend not to ship to CAN anymore just because of this reason. if the buyer has good feedback then i will do it, but its always a gamble shipping internationally.

If he contacts PayPal they will contact you prior to taking any action. If you have a scanner you can scan the three items and e-mail them to PP when they contact you. If you don't have a scanner you can snail mail a Xerox of the paperwork; letting them know by e-mail that it is on the way.
