Need some creative ways to grow flowers for sale

Oh yes! HERBS! I'll third that one. I always buy a good to go plant to stick into my garden vs, starting that from seed.

Another idea is maybe flowers in tea pots? For mothers day- You can get them at the thrift store cheap. For some reason African Violets come to mind as a good easy indoor plant.

What a good idea for her! Good luck and happy gardening!

Have you tried going to as nearby florist and asking if they have any pots that they toss out?
I have a florist near me that puts the old pots outside for the taking. They are mostly the bigger 6" and 8" pots but they might have some smaller ones.
If you are selling plants for transplanting try the plain egg cartons. These are great for tomatoes and marigolds and I always plant marigolds around my tomatoes to keep the bugs away. So maybe 2 tomato plants and 4 marigolds in a 1/2 doz. carton. Just don't overwater because the cartons will get too soggy, or water them good until a few days before the sale then just spritz the plants so the containers are not soggy.
I do like the Dollar store idea, you might even find some of those peat pots cheap there. Or maybe a goodwill or thrift store. Here in CT Goodwill overcharges but when I have gone to visit a friend in Daytona Beach I couldn't believe how cheap stuff is marked.

To "piggyback" on the teapot idea, how about going to a thrift store and planting some herbs in coffee mugs (the dainty kind that would go with a tea set)- they sell them at our local Goodwill for 25 cents.

Good luck! Great idea!

Has anyone tried to grow anything in a container that didn't have drainage holes.

:goodvibes My dd11 has come up with an idea to make some money so she can help pay for her summer camp this year. She wants to plant some flower seeds in containers and sell them this Spring/Summer.

:wizard:We need creative ideas on what to plant them in. Most of these will be plants that people can take home and plant in their garden, but some could be plants to give as gifts for mother's day. What are some inexpensive containers to use and how can they be decorated. I have all kinds of acrylic paints, but I'm not sure if that would be good for something that will have a plant in it? Do you think the paint will stay on outside? I don't want to spend a lot of money on supplies, other than potting soil and seeds.

Do you think this is a marketable idea? Even if she only makes $20 or so, she'll be happy. :yay:

Easy, fast growing seeds are zinnias, cosmos, asters. Maybe you could google "fast growing flower seeds" to get more names of seeds. I usually get my seeds from the Dollar Tree. You can get 10 packets of seeds for $1.00. Just follow the instructions on the packages. They may not have seeds in the store now, but keep checking back, they should be coming in any time now. :thumbsup2
