Need some clearification on combined year points...

I hope I write this clearly enough....

We are going to WDW in Aug/Sept 2011... Our trip will be booked using banked 2010 +2011 points...

We want to do a split stay so we can try a new resort plus stay at BLT. Should I, at the 11 mos mark book my whole trip at BLT to ensure we have a room then at 7 mos mark book another resort and cancel the days at BLT?

If I do this and get the resorts I am thinking of it will be less points than the BLT room. ((here is where it gets confusing))

Our plan is to end the trip at BLT and switch up the first 3 or 4 nights... by making the switch we will have points returned to us which I will then bank for 2012... in order to do this please clarify do I need to specify to when I call and speak to member services to book the first nights with my 2011 points (so they become bankable)? Or do the points all get put into one pile and it doesn't matter how I book it and DVC will see I have X 2010 points and X2011 points will just bank the unused when I switch up?

Does this make sense? It's so much easier to say it verbally than to type it out

Member Services will use the banked points first, but if you are using all of your 2011 points I don't think it matters at the 11 month booking. Now at the 7 month booking just remind MS to bank your extra 2011 points,which they can as long as you are in your 8 month banking slot.It is alot easier talking about it than posting it.Hopes this helps, good luck.

I am not using all of 2011 points, I just need a portion of them...

so I don't know if this makes a difference or not.

Example numbers just so I am making things clear as to what I mean and not actuals:

Home resort 8 nights 200 points for the stay (using a combined 2010 (80 points banked ) and 2011 (140 avail points)

At 7 months change the first 4 nights to another resort but now the 8 nights only costs me 160 points.... I want to bank those 40 points... IF DVC uses, as you state the banked points first that means the first nights will be using the 2010 points and so by changing the days do I lose banking rights... or does DVC just adjust up points with the new reservation that I use up my banked points and the extra points are current UY?

I still don't know if I am clear... I am even confusing myself!

Hi, Banking your 2010 pts into your 2011 use year means you have to use the 2010 points during your 2011 use year. So as long as you are in your 2011 use year it would not matter on your 7 month ressie, but to be able to bank the extra 2011 points (with in your 8 month time period)be sure to mention to MS what you are trying to do at the 7 month call.

This way MS will know for sure to use all of your 2010 points and return your 2011 points to your 2011 use year or bank them to your 2012 use year.
