Ok so we are planning a family trip for October 2015 to experience food and wine. I don't know which one of these is the best option:

1) Book at 11 months using pts at our home (BLT) for a 2-br and a studio and then try changing to either BW or BC at 7 months (there's a possibility the studio may not be needed but to early to tell)

2) Book the 2-BR on pts at 11 months and the studio on cash and then try switiching at 7 months

3) Wait until the 7 month mark and try booking directly at BC or BW with the chance rooms would still be available and if not book somewhere else

4) Book the 2-BR and wait to book the studio until sure it's needed with the possibility none will be available.

I hate the idea of booking the studio on borrowed points then if I don't need it having to use the pts before Jan. 31, 2016.

Any suggestions?

always book at home at 11 months so you have a room
2) Book the 2-BR on pts at 11 months and the studio on cash and then try switiching at 7 months

I wouldn't wait it's Food and wine . book at 11 switch at 7:thumbsup2
4) Book the 2-BR and wait to book the studio until sure it's needed with the possibility none will be available.
If you have to borrow pts I wouldn't if you might not need the studio, you could use cash and then if the studio is available book it with pts and cancel cash room

Book BLT and use the monorail to get to Epcot. The odds of a studio at BCV or even BWV for more than one or two nights would be poor. And both a 2 bedroom and a studio would be even worse.

We stayed at BLT for F&W two years ago and it worked out fine.

I'd book the 2 BR at 11 months with points. I would not borrow points I might not need to. In that case I'd either wait or do a cash reservation that was cancelable. Remember that even if you can get 2 BR units at BCV or BWV, they are going to hold less people than at BLT. For BWV all 2 BR are L/O with a queen and pull out full in the second. For BLT the L/O units are the same and the 2 BR dedicated units that you might get have a queen and pull out queen. This can mean a difference of 2-3 people for some groups when it comes to occupancy needs. So you might need the extra villa at BWV or BCV but not at BLT. Just have your plans and backup plans solidified so you can hit the group running day one at 7 months out.

Thanks for the help.

I am going to book the 2-br at blt at 11 months with points and do the studio as a cash ressie so if I have to cancel it no big deal.

We don't mind doing the monorail to epcot from blt; I just thought it might be nice to be closer to epcot since we spend so much time there.

You can always book BLT, check at 7 months, and if not available, waitlist. We did that for F&W this year, and in setting up the waitlist, we set it up so they would cancel our AKV reservation and use those points for a BWV reservation. We did request a 1 bedroom garden at BWV, so maybe that is easier than a 2 bedroom, but it filled within a month. Good luck!
