Need Some Baltimore, MD Area Help

We are form NJ and looking to do a weekend in Baltimore Fri - Sun, 2 nights. We have never been there. It has to be Memorial Day Weekend...only weekend with no sports, etc. I know it will be crowded, traffice, etc. Looking to see the inner harbor, an Orioles Game, the aquarium.

I like the idea of the inner harbor hotels, but they are way to out of our budget.

Looking for some suggestions of areas that are nice, safe and you can access Camden Yards (car or public transportation) and the Inner Harbor area.

There are lots for Camden Yards so parking for a game won't be a problem and there are ton of parking garages at the Inner Harbor. Parking for the game will be $8 at their lots and $20 in the surrounding parking garages.

I would suggest going to the Game at 4:05 on Saturday but going early and park in the Sheraton Parking garage. It is halfway between Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor. Get your aquarium pass for early in the morning, then go to the game, then spend the evening strolling around the Harbor and having dinner.

On Sunday you can go back to the inner Harbor and hit up the Maryland Science Center, take the water Taxi to Ft. McHenry, tour the USS Constellation, visit Baltimores World Trade Center, snack on Rita's ice.

Even if you don't go to Ft. McHenry, a ride on the water taxi is fairly inexpensive. It stops at several areas and will return you back to the Inner Harbor.

Or you could just go to the game on Friday night and have all day Saturday and Sunday to do the rest of the stuff at the Inner Harbor. Friday night is fireworks night and AT&T Student night (Every Friday, students of any age with a valid school I.D. can purchase LF Upper Reserve seats for just $6 at the Oriole Park Box Office. (Subject to availability.)

I love Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor area.

I have no hotel information but don't worry about parking downtown. There are plenty of lots.

If you stay in timonium/towson area, there is a light rail that will take you straight to OPACY.

I highly recommend Ft. McHenry. The history is amazing there if you are able to catch the end of the day. They change out the flags and tell the story of the Star Spangled Banner being written.

I haven't been to the Aquarium and, to tell the truth, I have heard from so many that it's not worth the money. I do recommend touring the ships. http://www.historicships.org/. There is some walking and you'll go along the inner harbor.

Not sure how old your kids are, but the science museum and Port Discovery are also both lots of fun. If you can't stay in the inner harbor then I would try to stay near a light rail station and take the train in to avoid paying for expensive parking garages and there is really no way to avoid them.

There is a ton to do out there - check out the Duck Tours as well. My kids always beg to go on one when we are there.

Not sure what your budget is, but you do NOT want to stray too far from the harbor. I got a great deal at the Marriott thru priceline (4 star for 115 per night). You could probably score a deal on a 3 star. Aquarium is crowded and pricey. Make sure you order tickets online before you go. Unless you really want to go i do not think it is worth it . My kids liked port discovery, train museum, and science center best (free with reciprocal membership)

If you go by Ft. McHenry know that my husband's firm designed the welcome center!

Check out hot-wire.com for hotel deals. we did pretty good there.

Check out little Italy for yummy eats.

Duck Tours are gone. Sounds like there are games all weekend? When there is no game you can tour Camden Yards, but don't think you can when there is a home game? Not sure if the football stadium offers tours? We live N of Baltimore, but take tourists to Ft. Mc Henry, B&O Railroad museum. Fells Point hotels are beautiful but expensive. Our kids always take field trips to Science Center, Aquarium etc.

I can actually help on this! We were just there this week. We stayed at Sheraton Baltimore North in Towson. Awesome hotel!!! Parking garage attached to the hotel, no additional cost for parking. 3rd floor indoor pool and hottub, both stainless steel, super cool. Attached to the Towson Town Center mall via skywalk so you don't have to drive anywhere to eat. There is also a restaurant in the hotel.
We went to the Aquarium and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We saw the dolphin show and the Imax 4D show. All the exhibits are really neat, the Australia Wild Extremes and the Tropical Rain Forest exhibits were very cool. We really liked the Inner Harbor area and would have explored more had it not been raining on us. There seems to be plenty to do in the area. I wanted to go to the zoo but we were homeward bound and noone wanted to spend an extra day but me.
