I'd like to lose about 20 lbs. It's a manageable amount, but the problem is that I can't do a low carb diet and concentrate on protein.

Kidney problems run in my family and one thing to help slow (can't reverse) the damage is to eat a low protein diet. Obviously, I can't do low protein AND low carb, so I need some ideas.

I'm totally a meat and potatoes kind of person, so that's an added problem.

They suggest a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, but I can't see that happening.

I'm open for suggestions if anyone has any.

Hi

Have you thought about Weight Watchers. Besides low carb I feel it is one of the most sensible eating lifestyles that you can follow for years to come.

Otherwise, portion control, portion control, portion control (pretty funny coming from me - the only portion size I know is extra large:tongue:  )

AND

Exercise, exercise exercise.

Hang in there I know you will find the right combo for you.

Have a Disney day!!

My sister is doing this and doing really well with it. There are plenty of books in bookstores and libraries on it.
I think the old weight watchers was based on it.
Basically it is so many exchanges per day of protein, starch, dairy, fruit etc. It is flexible, nutricious and teaches portion control. Many packaged foods are labeled with the exchanges per serving.

Just wanted to welcome you to WISH, sweet angel!
