Hello members of disboards.

My name is Tina and I'm a middle aged un-married woman.
Being a fan of Disney it may be surprising that I just found out about this place today ha ha ha.

Well any ways, my problem is that I've been severely depressed. I work about 50~ hours a week and my job is VERY low paying and VERY stressful. I have little time to think and little time to enjoy life. When I get home, I get home late, and the only thing waiting for me is my giant collection of Disney tapes and dvds.
It all started one day when I was watching my sisters baby and we were watching toy story 2. I just fell in love at that very second. Ever sense that day when ever I get home I watch about 5 hours of Disney movies a day, and on weekends I find my self watching about 12 hours a day.

I don't know if this is a bad thing or not but I am kinda scared, in the back of my head I feel like I'm wasting my life away but at the same time I feel relieved that I found a way to escape the horrors of my life.

So Disboards can you give me some advice on what to do with my life? :confused3

I would suggest talking to a counsler, they can try and help you figure things out.

Some other things that might help is making time for a new hobby or getting involved with something where you are around people a little more. I like to scrapbook and stamp and love going to classes at my local scrapbook stores. I know you job is important and you need it, but you can't let just that run your life.

I'd suggest some counseling. The movies are fine as a coping mechanism but it sounds like you're craving more social interaction.

You need to find some type of social interaction, and get out of your house! If you have time to watch 12 hours of movies, then you could have spent 12 hours with people.

I would suggest finding a group of single friends you could hang out with, even if it is pizza and a card game at home. If there is no one, then you could join a church group, gym, singles group... anything to get that social interaction. You could consider online dating, too. Not something I have ever tried, but know 4 people who have met and married through that, including my brother.

And you can always hang out and chat on the DIS... always something going on here! :welcome:

Just following the rules and I want to see where this one goes.

I think I'm getting too suspicious in my old age of 45. :surfweb:

Like others have said sounds like you might need some therapy. Here are two other suggestions; check the boards to see if there is a dis meet happening anywhere within an hour or 2 of you; think about working at going to disney someday. Yes with a lower paying job it might take awhile be planning on going will give you a real goal to work on. Check out the budget boards for ideas and budgeting. It might give you a little lift. If you have a Dis meet not super far go to it. A good way to get out, meet others that like Disney and who knows what. Good luck.

I am glad you have an outlet in watching movies as a stress reliever from your job but I think the amount of time is on the extreme side. Maybe do moive night once a week, or on the weekends. But I agree with others you need to get out more. Tv, Internet, movies etc, all are great but you need more balance.
